Periklis Papapetropoulos will lead a seminar on Lavta and Musics of Greece, Turkey and the Eastern Mediterranean during this autumn's 11th edition (20-25 October, 2026). The lavta, an instrument close to the oud and the saz, is an ideal instrument to delve into the folk and classical modal traditions from Greece and Turkey. Open to all instrumentalists, the seminar covers technique, repertoire, ornamentation, modal understanding, and ensemble playing, with the voice as a central guide to music making.

Periklis grew up in Crete, began playing laouto and bulgari in village festivals with Psarantonis's group, and in 1985 met Ross Daly, studying saz and tanbur with him and becoming a longtime member of the Labyrinth musical workshop. A renowned teacher of saz and lavta, he has recorded three solo albums and collaborated with musicians across the traditional music scene.

Periklis Papapetropoulos dirigeix un seminari sobre Lavta i músiques de Grècia i Turquía, durant aquesta 11a edició de t**dor (20-25 d'octubre de 2026). El lavta, un instrument proper a l'oud i al saz, és un instrument ideal per endinsar-se en les tradicions modals folk i clàssiques de Grècia i Turquia. Obert a tots els instrumentistes, el seminari treballa la tècnica, el repertori, l'ornamentació, la comprensió modal, i la pràctica de conjunt, amb la veu com a guia central per fer música.

Periklis va créixer a Creta, va començar a tocar laouto i bulgari en festes de poble amb el grup de Psarantonis, i el 1985 va conèixer Ross Daly, amb qui va estudiar saz i tanbur, esdevenint membre habitual del taller musical Labyrinth. Reconegut professor de saz i lavta, ha enregistrat tres discos en solitari i ha col·laborat amb músics de tot l'àmbit de la música tradicional.

Gigi Oliva will lead a seminar on Sardinian Oral Polyphonic Singing, during this autumn's 11th edition (20-25 October, 2026), exploring Sardinia's centuries-old tradition of multipart vocal singing (cuncordu, tenore, tragiu, taja) through its historical and geographical context, melodic and harmonic analysis, and the individual creativity and dialogue between singers that keep the tradition alive today. Gigi is one of the few teachers who teaches traditional singing to both men and women singers. The seminar is open to all, no prior musical training required.

Gigi Oliva holds a degree in ethnomusicology from the Conservatorio Palestrina in Cagliari, where he now teaches. A researcher and singer of Sardinia's oral tradition since the 1970s, he has directed the Coro di Bosa since 2003, founded and presides over the CAMPOS association for the safeguarding of Sardinian oral music, and co-edited two volumes of the Enciclopedia della musica sarda.

Gigi Oliva dirigirà un seminari sobre Sardinian Oral Polyphonic Singing, durant aquesta 11a edició de t**dor (20-25 d'octubre de 2026), explorant la tradició sarda del cant polifònic oral (cuncordu, tenore, tragiu, taja), des del seu context històric i geogràfic fins a l'anàlisi melòdica i harmònica, i la creativitat individual i el diàleg entre cantants que mantenen viva la tradició avui. Gigi és un dels pocs professors que ensenya el cant tradicional tant a homes com a dones. El seminari és obert a tothom, sense necessitat de formació musical prèvia.

Gigi Oliva és llicenciat en etnomusicologia pel Conservatori Palestrina de Càller, on actualment és docent. Investigador i cantor de la tradició oral sarda des dels anys setanta, dirigeix el Coro di Bosa des del 2003, és fundador i president de l'associació CAMPOS per a la salvaguarda de la música oral sarda, i ha coeditat dos volums de l'Enciclopedia della musica sarda.

At , our focus has always been on the traditional and classical music of the Mediterranean and the Middle East, while also giving an important place to new creation, new compositions and contemporary approaches to these musical traditions.

This year we welcome Martha Mavroidi, who leads our seminar New Songs in Modal Music: Orchestration and Composition, exploring how a short melodic or rhythmic "seed" can grow into a full composition or improvisation.

Martha is a Greek singer, lutist and composer who has written for the Greek National Opera and Theater, released six albums, and directs the Tinos World Music Festival. Her seminar runs 20-25 October and is open to all instrumentalists and singers.

A , el nostre enfocament sempre ha estat la música tradicional i la música clàssica del Mediterrani i del Pròxim Orient, donant també un lloc important a la nova creació, les noves composicions i les aproximacions contemporànies a aquestes tradicions musicals.

Aquest any donem la benvinguda a Martha Mavroidi, que dirigeix el nostre seminari Noves cançons en música modal: orquestració i composició, explorant com una breu "llavor" melòdica o rítmica pot créixer fins a convertir-se en una composició completa o una improvisació.

Martha és cantant, llaütista i compositora grega, ha compost per a l'Òpera Nacional Grega i el Teatre Nacional, ha publicat sis discos, i dirigeix el Tinos World Music Festival. El seu seminari és del 20 al 25 d'octubre i és obert a tots els instrumentistes i cantants.

We continue our seminar introductions for this autumn's 11th edition (20-25 October, 2026) with Khaled Al Hafez, who will lead a seminar on classical Arabic singing through the muwashshah, a foundational form for learning maqam, rhythm, and the fundamentals of Arabic vocal performance. Participants will also work on the pronunciation of the poetic language of these muwashshahat.

Khaled Al Hafez is a Syrian vocalist and educator from Aleppo, trained at the Aleppo Institute of Music and later an instructor of classical Arabic singing at the Higher Institute of Music in Damascus. He has led workshops and masterclasses internationally, known for his expressive voice and his dedication to preserving and transmitting classical Arabic music.

Continuem les presentacions dels seminaris d'aquesta 11a edició de t**dor (20-25 d'octubre de 2026) amb Khaled Al Hafez, que dirigirà un seminari de cant clàssic àrab a través del muwashshah, una forma fonamental per aprendre maqam, ritme i els fonaments del cant àrab. Els participants també treballaran la pronunciació de la llengua poètica d'aquests muwashshahat.

Khaled Al Hafez és un cantant i pedagog sirià d'Alep, format a l'Institut de Música d'Alep i més t**d professor de cant clàssic àrab a l'Institut Superior de Música de Damasc. Ha impartit tallers i masterclasses arreu del món, reconegut per la seva veu expressiva i la seva dedicació a preservar i transmetre la música clàssica àrab.

We start our seminar introductions for this autumn's 11th edition (20-25 October, 2026) with Saina Zamanian, who will lead a seminar on Dastgāh, the modal system at the heart of Persian classical music. Through listening, analysis, and collective performance, participants will explore its structure, aesthetic principles, and central role in Persian musical tradition, along with improvisation and the oral tradition that has carried it through generations. Open to musicians, researchers, and anyone drawn to Persian music.

Saina Zamanian is an Iranian tār and setār player, trained at the Tehran Music Conservatory and the University of Art in Tehran. She has studied with Hooshang Zarif, Hossein Alizadeh, and Daryush Talai, performed at festivals in Uzbekistan, Malaysia, and Spain, and is currently pursuing a PhD in France.

Comencem les presentacions dels seminaris d'aquesta 11a edició de t**dor (20-25 d'octubre de 2026) amb Saina Zamanian, que dirigirà un seminari sobre el Dastgāh, el sistema modal que és el cor de la música clàssica persa. A través de l'escolta, l'anàlisi i la interpretació col·lectiva, els participants n'exploraran l'estructura, els principis estètics i el paper central dins la tradició musical persa, així com la improvisació i la tradició oral que l'ha transmès. Obert a músics, investigadors i qualsevol persona interessada en la música persa.

Saina Zamanian és intèrpret iraniana de tar i setar, formada al Conservatori de Música de Teheran i a la Universitat d'Art de Teheran. Ha estudiat amb Hooshang Zarif, Hossein Alizadeh i Daryush Talai, ha actuat en festivals a l'Uzbekistan, Malàisia i Espanya, i actualment cursa un doctorat a França.
