Immunity Boosting Tip #1
When your body is full of toxins, it becomes a breeding ground for disease, which in winter translates to colds and the flu.
Ayurveda refers to toxins as "ama", or the sticky waste product of undigested food that clogs the channels of your body.
One of the most benfcial ways we can avoid the build up of toxins is by :

Spicing up your food.
Spices are not only for flavour but many also carry powerful medicinal properties .
Certain spices fire up your digestive power so that toxins doesn’t stand a chance.
Some spices also burn away any toxins that’s already accumulated in the body.
Boost your immunity while you eat by working these spices into your meals:
Turmeric
Cumin
Coriander
Fennel
Ginger
Black pepper

This is one of my favourite days of the year, our shortest day and longest night and official start of Summer!

This Satvic yogi food right here is Lightly spiced chickpeas served up with a side of steamed carrots (so much sweeter here in Ibiza), sautéed cucumber ribbons in ghee, lime juice, fennel seeds, a pinch of cumin and some pink salt and lots o' fresh coriander .

Ayurveda teaches the importance of eating seasonally to remain in balanced health.
As we are now in the full swing of Spring, known as "Kapha Season" in Ayurveda - "Earth + Water" elements / energy
It's time to shift our diets to foods that are bit lighter and dryer than what we've been having all winter.
Think; less rich heavy, comfort food and more:
lighter grains, bitter greens / wild greens, pungent spices like Turmeric & Ginger are very beneficial in helping us cleanse and remove that heavy / dull energy of Kapha - which we are all prone to feeling this time of year!!
