Tetrapod Pavilion - Assembly process

This year the GEOfab workshop has the participation of students from the Javeriana University of Colombia. And ETSAB students.

The objective of the workshop is to explore the geometric possibilities of Lightweight, Modular and Transformable systems. With the help of parametric design tools. Rhinoceros + Grasshopper.

TETRAPOD Pavilion. Deployable structure with square and hexagonal modules.

The workshop; - Empúries, was an international workshop with the participation of students of three universities:

1. Barcelona School of Architecture ETSAB - Polytechnic University of Catalonia. .abroad
2. Ion Mincu University of Architecture and Urbanism.
3. School of Architecture, Design and the Built Environment. Nottingham Trent University.

The workshop seeks to explore and enhance Deployable Structure Systems applied in a natural and cultural environment such as the ruins of the Greco-Roman Archaeological Museum of Empúries. The challenge of constructive solutions and collaborative work allows the student to solve real problems and work as a team.

On a technical level, the project proposes geometric and constructive solutions for a hybrid system of square and hexagonal deployable modules. With the help of parametric design tools (rhinoceros, Grasshopper, Kangaroo and Karamba)

Digital processes for constructive experimentation practices

Hugo Matos
Arquitecto. Doctorando por la UFMG. Máster en Construcciones e Innovaciones Tecnológicas por la ETSAB / UPC. Especialista en Escenografía, Eventos y Espacios Efímeros por el Instituto Àrtidi.
Profesor en el curso de grado en Arquitectura y Urbanismo, y coordinador del máster Diseño Paramétrico en Arquitectura, ambos en la PUC Minas
Tiene como objeto de investigación la interdisciplinariedad entre la Arquitectura y la Construcción a partir del lenguaje computacional y el prototipaje, con enfoque en metodologías hi-low.

Marina Borges
Arquitecta. Ingeniera civil. Doctora en Arquitectura y Urbanismo por la UFMG. Máster en Ingeniería de Estructuras por la UFMG.
Profesora del curso de grado en Arquitectura y Urbanismo, y coordinadora del máster Diseño Paramétrico en Arquitectura, ambos en la PUC Minas. Arquitecta en el Departamento Municipal de Política Urbana del ayuntamiento de Belo Horizonte.
Su enfoque de investigación se centra en el estudio de los procesos digitales de diseño en arquitectura y urbanismo, haciendo uso de herramientas computacionales emergentes.
