Our Sunday Library is back! Well, at least for this week 🤞🏻

Today, we’ve decided to recommend these 2 books that are perfect for anyone learning English.

📕 The House on Mango Street, is suitable for teenagers and adults.
Sandra Cisneros uses quite simple language and short sentences which make it relatively easy for English students to understand. One of the outstanding features of the book is that it can help students understand and empathise with a community which is very different from their own.

📚 Our second suggestion is Matilda, by Roald Dahl, and who doesn’t love Matilda?
She reads almost as many books as we do, right? 😉 Many of us have watched the film and/or read the book and have loved it. It’s a staple of kids literature.
This classic is perfect for older kids who are confident readers and want to start reading in English.

☘️ Happy St Patrick’s Day everyone!!

Here are 5 interesting facts about St Patrick’s day 👇🏻

1. The first ever St Patrick’s day parade did not take place in Ireland! It was held in a Spanish colony in Florida, USA on the 17th of March 1601. It was organised by the colony’s Irish vicar. 🇺🇸 > 🇮🇪

2. Folklore says you need to wear green or display a shamrock to avoid getting pinched by mischievous leprechauns as you become invisible to them when you wear the colour green.🟢

3. The city of Boston dyes its river green on St Patrick’s Day 💚

4. It is said that St Patrick used a 3 leafed shamrock as a visual guide when explaining the Holy Trinity. ☘️

5. Although tradition states that St Patrick banned snakes from Ireland. The truth is, there were never snakes in Ireland 🐍
