Els Reis d’Orient, a cavall, omplen d’il·lusió les cases i el Casal dels Avis d’Alforja
Els Reis d’Orient i els seus tres patges han arribat enguany a Alforja sobre sis cavalls que han donat una gran elegància i majestuositat a la cavalcada alforgenca.
La cavalcada ha estat precedida per un tractor ple de joguines i enguany no hi havia gens de carbó, la qual cosa deixa clar que nens i nenes s’han portat molt bé durants els últims dotze mesos.
Els patges, per la seva part, han anat il·luminant el trajecte amb bengales, repartint caramels i tothom ha gaudit de la comitiva reial, que sortint pel darrere del Parc dels Amics d’Alforja ha arribat fins a la plaça de Dalt.
Un cop al Casal dels Avis, on els tres reis han estat rebuts per la directora i per personal del centre, Melcior, Gaspar i Baltasar han repartit regals entre els avis i les àvies i poc després, acompanyats de l’alcalde, Juanjo Garcia, han sortit al balcó.
L’alcalde els ha lliurat les claus màgiques de totes les cases d’Alforja i, a més de demanar novament aigua de pluja, ja que la sequera no s’ha acabat, ha assegurat als tres reis que els nens i les nenes d’Alforja s’han portat moooooooolt béeeeeeeeeee, una afirmació acollida amb aplaudiments per tota la plaça.
Finalment, els reis, els patges i tota la comitiva reial han entrat a l’església de Sant Miquel Arcàngel, completament plena, i ha començat el moment més esperat: el lliurament de joguines i regals.
A hores d’ara, i un cop completada tota la feina, els tres reis ja són de tornada a l’Orient. Abans de marxar, però, han deixat dit que l’any vinent tornaran a ser a Alforja, aquest poble on han estat tan ben acollits i on, a més, la canalla es porta més que bé.
Així que, majestats, us estarem esperant. Fins l’any vinent!!

Let's say it for what it is - Or how science is saying in avery polite way that we are f_cking horses up.

It’s time to face the truth. We often sugarcoat what's really happening in the horse world. Pain is real, and it has consequences. Yet, instead of calling out poor practices – even those with the best intentions – we find ourselves dancing around the issue, avoiding the blunt truth.

Take this recent study: out of 11 dressage horses, almost 50% had oral lesions caused by equipment or training (5 to be precise). And guess what? These horses were showing clear signs of pain, like opening their mouths repeatedly. But how are we talking about it? We’re saying things like "oral behaviour may be linked to lesions" instead of saying what it is – PAIN.

This is happening but we’re all too polite to address the root of the problem. Let’s stop walking on eggshells and start talking about horse wellbeing for what it really is.

It’s not just behaviour – it’s pain. Time to step up.

By the way I will open the PAIN box another day. It is sad enough we are only looking at one dimension of pain (physical pain) - very poorly - for some people to even think about mental and emotional painful states of being, but we should talk about it.

Strongly recommend any horse trainer to have a look at the work of Dr. Gad Saad.

We need a lot of the things he talks about to be brought into our field, we are behind when it comes to certain things, most people still haven't figured out behaviorism, and how the learning theory works. Even though it started it's development in the early 1930's.

In a way it's good we are talking about it.

BUT and it is a big one.....

Why teach something if there are a lot of things we already know that don't fit in?

Is it better than where we are coming from. ✅

Is knowledge out there that can move us further ✅

So let's get our homework in.

Let's talk about not only physical pain, but include the fact that there is emotional pain and mental pain in horses. (does trigger stacking ring a bell)

Well-being should be a must. (positive states of being)

Do you have any ideas on how evolutionary psychology, psychology of decision making, behavioral sciences, behavioral decision theory can help horse trainers? I do have plenty
