The English Academy Una acadèmia d'anglès per als pobles de l'Alt Empordà. Our teacher is British, Cambridge-qualified (CELTA), and highly-experienced.

The English Academy, a language school in a bright and open space in the centre of , , offers fun and focussed courses for children, teenagers, and adults, with an emphasis on natural and accurate communication. Groups, limited to six students, are organised by ability and age (following the European framework, of CEFR). Each student is given clear and realistic objectives, wh

ile assessment is ongoing, dynamic, and honest. Activities are carefully designed for each group, and include: guided conversation; games; grammar exploration; and exam preparation (including for the Cambridge First and Advanced certificates). Our approach is creative, flexible, and open-minded: we focus at all times on what is best for the student.

The English Academy was opened by British teacher and newspaper journalist Adam Wilshaw in September 2014. Located in the historic centre of the small town of Peralada, in the Alt Emporda, Catalonia, it offers a unique service in the local area. Adam, the full-time teacher, not only has excellent academic qualifications in English (including a degree in English from the University of Manchester) and teacher training (PGCE and CELTA), he also has more than seven years of full-time teaching experience, in Alcaniz, Figueres, and Peralada, and a deep love and respect for the English language. All students of The English Academy receive the highest level of professional teaching and support, ongoing and sensitive guidance, and regular, honest progress assessments. Classes - for children, teenagers or adults - are dynamic, communicative, and always appropriate to the age, level, and objectives of the student. The methods used in classes are various and flexible, including new forms of linguistic games and intelligent structured conversation, and are always based on the goal of natural and accurate communication in English. Since 2014, the reputation of The English Academy has been growing strongly - thanks to its excellent results, fun classes, and word of mouth recommendations - and it now welcomes dozens of regular students from Peralada and many surrounding villages.
