After looking at Yayoi Kusama’s works, last term Year 5 channelled some of her motifs into their own pieces. First they looked at colour theory, before learning about different ways to blend oil pastels to create shading and dimension. They designed their backgrounds using their colour theory knowledge and made patterns using recycled items. Then it was finally time to create the grid in order to draw an A3 sized image of their chosen fruit using oil pastel techniques. They worked really hard on layering colours, showing shading and highlights and keeping their images to the desired scale. They’re so happy with how their work turned out!

This year the Bellver College community has donated a phenomenal €4600 to charity!
This money has been raised through student lead initiatives such as making and selling Christmas decorations or paying to nominate a teacher to dress up as the Easter bunny, to name only two!
Students in the secondary school have the opportunity to join the ‘Leo’s Club’ where they can be part of such great work and are supported by the endlessly enthusiastic, Señorita Pons. Thank you all for all of your hard work and to all the families who have supported us too.
This year we are so proud to have supported:
• EducaJoy
• Cancer Support Group Mallorca
• Associació Abaimar
• Associació Gira-sol

Our teachers have been busy broadening their knowledge on inclusion. The primary department had a fantastic, interactive session with Gemma from Sign Sense Makaton, completing their Level 1 + 2 certificate in Makaton. Makaton will allow teachers to communicate with children who may find it a challenge to communicate verbally.
Everyone was also fortunate enough to have Lauren Jones return to school to help provide inclusion strategies which can be used within all classrooms.
Thank you to both ladies for sharing your knowledge and enthusiasm with us.

This year, we say a very special goodbye to two dearly-loved members of our school team as they begin their well-earned retirement. Between them, they have given so much to our school community - their time, care, dedication and heart. Srta Cavanillas has been part of our school for an incredible 38 years, leaving behind a legacy that will be felt for many years to come. Mrs Beas has been part of the admin team for 27 years, helping to keep us all organised and on track.
More than colleagues, they have been familiar faces, trusted friends and an important part of the daily life of the school. Generations of pupils, families and staff have benefited from their steady presence and dedication.
We are deeply grateful for everything they have given to our school. They leave with our warmest wishes and a huge amount of love. Thank you Bea and Heidi. You will always be part of our school family ❤️
