The Anchor in the Storm: Why Discipline and Yoga Are Your Ultimate Superpowers

We live in a world obsessed with quick fixes, instant gratification, and high-intensity hustling. We want results yesterday, and we want them with as little effort as possible. But deep down, we all know the truth: anything truly worth having requires dedication.

If you feel overwhelmed, distracted, or disconnected from your potential, the combination of yoga and discipline isn’t just a lifestyle choice—it is your blueprint for lasting strength, clarity, and peace.
1)Yoga is Much More Than Stretching
It’s easy to look at yoga and see only physical postures. But the word yoga literally means “to yoke” or “to unite.” It is the conscious alignment of your body, mind, and breath.
When you step onto the mat, remarkable shifts begin to happen:
2)Physical Fortitude: Yoga builds a unique kind of functional strength, flexibility, and balance. It strengthens your core, improves posture, and protects your body against injury.
3)Mental Clarity: Through controlled breathing (pranayama) and mindfulness, yoga calms the nervous system. It lowers cortisol (the stress hormone) and teaches your brain how to stay calm when things get uncomfortable.
4)Emotional Balance: The mat becomes a safe lab where you learn to observe your thoughts without reacting to them. You cultivate emotional resilience that carries over into your daily life. Continue in comments

Master the self, and you master your life.

Each morning begins in stillness. It is a sacred ritual—a quiet moment to commune with the Divine and anchor my spirit before I ever step onto the mat. The echoes of ancient wisdom remind us of a profound truth: true joy blossoms only from the soil of self-mastery.
This is the call that draws me to my practice every single day. Some dawns bring fire and inspiration; others are heavy with resistance. But I arrive, regardless.

Through the gentle art of discipline, we reclaim the power to write our own destiny. Without a foundation, we are easily swept away by the tempests of life, losing our way in the dark. Storms will inevitably come to us all; the difference lies in learning to meet the wind with an unshakable, quiet equanimity.

We need not ask the universe, ‘Why me?’ Instead, we must gather the tools to rise. Yoga, meditation, and pranayama are precisely that—a beautiful alchemy that unites mind, body, and breath into one flowing current.

When we reach for a handstand and fall, we are not failing. We are weaving new neural pathways, discovering fresh ways to communicate within ourselves. In every tumble and loss of balance, I see exactly what seeks alignment: a stronger mind and physical vessel, a luminous lightness in my energy field, and a deeper inner tether.
This does not discourage me. On the contrary, it is an invitation. It fuels my return to the mat, time and time again, with the beautiful hope that one day—perhaps in this very lifetime—I will master this body, quiet the mind, and truly touch the Spirit.
Happy practising, beautiful souls.

Dream Big!

If we take a moment to pause and look around, we acknowledge that 10, 20 years ago we were dreaming about the life we are living right now.
Yes, we have our ups and downs, but the Light is always here, around us. We are always loved and supported on our journey.

Let’s continue to be big dreamers and bring our focus to our dream life through our energy, thoughts, feelings and actions. We really don’t need to chase it. But we do need to stay alert, vibrant and ready to welcome it into our lives.

So what steps do we need to take to live our dream life? The answer is to raise our frequency. We move, dance, practise yoga — we twist away tension, we lengthen the muscles and spine to let go of old imprinted patterns and open our hearts, ourselves, to new opportunities, adventures and life.

We look up with gratitude.
We find stillness within and hear the Divine.

And most importantly, we give ourselves permission to accept the dream into our lives. Most of us — myself included — know what we want, but when the opportunity comes, we freeze, we start questioning, and the goblins begin creeping out from within, in the form of doubts. Here, our alertness will help us. We acknowledge them, embrace them, and set them free with gratitude and love.

Let’s keep twisting, lengthening and strengthening our body and mind through yoga. Let’s raise our energy to match our dream life.

One Heart. One Creation.

One of my colleagues recently asked me why I practice yoga every single day. They wondered if it was a pressure—something I felt forced to do—or if it was driven by health or devotion. The words that immediately came to me were wholeness, clarity, energy, and the serenity of the present moment. Dedicating those two to two-and-a-half hours is the greatest investment I can make in my own future well-being.
A daily practice can be intense, designed to move our bodies and minds far beyond our comfort zones. Yet, it is never truly about the physical surface; it is about reaching the depth of our souls. It is the mastery of breath and mind found within that intensity. Yoga provides us with the tools to meet life’s endless diversity with calm, grace, and profound peace.
It is an act of devotion with two sides: gratitude toward something Higher, and a deep honoring of ourselves.
For the first ten years, we exist in a romantic phase. The mind is captivated by the shapes of the asanas, the alignment of muscles, and the stacking of bones. But over time, the physical fades into the background, and the true focus shifts to Energy and the Path. Consciousness breaks through the prison bars built by the mind, allowing us to step freely into infinite love, peace, trust, and gratitude.
Ultimately, yoga is an expression of love—for ourselves and for the entire world. One heart, one Creation.
Come practice with us.
Schedule Update: Please be aware that the class scheduled for the 25th has been moved to the 24th. There will be no class on the 29th.

Turning a new page🩷🙏. ✨ *We have all heard that “yoga brings peace and happiness,” but the true impact of this practice goes much deeper.* ✨
🌿 Life is inevitably filled with challenges and crises. These realities do not disappear when we step onto the mat; instead, the practice transforms us so that we can face them with stability and grace.
Through yoga, we cultivate discipline, responsibility, and commitment—both to ourselves and to those around us. It builds physical and mental resilience. While the practice may never be “easy”—nor should it be!—it strengthens our spirit, body, and mind.
🧘‍♀️ Yoga shapes our character, helping us prioritize inner peace. By grounding us in the present moment through breath and *bandhas*, it heightens our emotional intelligence. Ultimately, yoga is about the beautiful journey: bringing clarity to the mind, lightness to the body, and union with the Divine.
*Happy practicing, everyone!* 🤍

Prayer.
We can approach yoga from many different angles. For some, it is a physical workout; for others, a sacred union of body, mind, and soul; and for some, yoga is a living prayer. We begin on the dense physical layer—purifying ourselves from the outside in through the breath, deep focus, and the intentional application of bandhas.
It is often said that a dedicated yoga practice burns away our karmic debt. The mysticism of yoga ensures we cannot remain unchanged; it forces us to make a choice. Suddenly, we are called to let go of our masks, our old habits, and outdated versions of ourselves. We must shed the distractions and the noise. For some, this means clearing the clutter from their lives—while others choose to walk away from yoga because the path is too demanding.
Yoga demands dedication, devotion, and faith—first in ourselves and our own souls, and then in something far greater than us. Ultimately, the choice is always ours.
Our invocation mantra begins with a profound truth: "O Lord, lead me from the unreal to the real, from darkness to Light, from death to immortality." This is the ultimate essence of our practice: to feel the Light, to be the Light, and to spread the Light.
Dear sweethearts, starting June 1st, our practice will move to Zoom while we search for our next offline home. The studio at Portals de Yoga is officially up for sale. I am so incredibly sorry for the transition layout and any inconvenience, and I am so deeply grateful for your warmth and understanding.
See you on the screen—let's keep practicing together online!

Rest in Gratitude.

There is a mystical hour before sunrise. It is the time when the whole city sleeps and fewer "thought forms" enter our energy field. There is only us, the stars, and the Supreme Source. Serenity and silence are present, magic is in the air, and the voice of the soul can finally be heard. It is a powerful moment of connection to something bigger than ourselves.
On one of these mornings, I was resting in gratitude. I recognized how grateful I am for everyone who helps my life flow the way it does. I acknowledge my body as a map of the soul; it highlights exactly where the work needs to be done. I embrace my shadows and whisper words of gratitude to them.
Through the body, we continue to expand our consciousness and awareness. We feel grateful to everyone who came before us, giving us the tools to continue this energy work within ourselves and the world around us. We are grateful to live on this planet and share it with so many incredible souls.
Gratitude feels like expansion and openness. It feels like oneness—a great unity with the whole planet. Gratitude feels like the freedom to spread your arms and let go of the shields of fear, protection, and separation. It is a transformative way to simply be here with an open heart and an awake mind, allowing everyone to be exactly who they are. There is no judgment, criticism, or fear—only an embrace of gratitude.
Thank you. ❤️🙏

Concentration. Connection. Liberation.

Divine Love and Light constantly surround us.
While we may not always see them, we certainly feel their presence from time to time. We hold a deep awareness of this within ourselves. Though we can easily get caught up in our physical bodies here on Earth, that invisible Divine light remains safely tucked inside.

We often visit monasteries, temples, and churches to connect with it.
In yoga, we find this connection through our practice. We begin by asking for guidance, offering our gratitude before flowing with the breath. This concentration draws us inward, directly to the space where that Divine spark resides.
The more breath we offer it, the more we awaken it. And as it awakens, our realisation of our own energy, creativity, and light begins to beautifully expand.

Yoga is a path of moving energy. We squeeze, twist, and bend our old emotional and psychological patterns—not just our muscles and bones. In doing so, we extend and create space for new ways of perceiving, creating, and finding liberation.
Yoga isn't simply about opening the shoulders; it gives us wings of liberation. When we release tension in the back, we are truly opening our hearts. We allow ourselves to simply be present, experiencing life exactly as it is, without judgement or criticism. Living with an open heart demands a great deal of strength, courage, acceptance, and love—qualities we learn on the yoga mat every single day.

Let us practise together—join the group or private yoga classes .
Love,
Angela
