Wonderful morning at Fundación Sales...

Walking along its paths, discovering the richness of its flora, from the living fossil of the Ginkgo tree to the enormous water lilies that made us imagine giant frogs resting among their leaves, gave us a morning full of beauty, silence and discovery.

The visit offered our students the opportunity to observe biodiversity directly, awaken their sense of wonder, develop attention and respect for living beings, and better understand the delicate relationships between plants, animals and human beings within the same ecosystem.
Thank you to Raquel and Gibie for your explanations, kindness and patience with us.

Beyond medals and results, the Olympic movement reminds us of deeply educational values: effort, personal growth, respect, friendship and coexistence between people from different cultures. These are values we share and work on every day at school.

Holding our own Olympic Games is not simply about organising a sports day. It is about creating an educational space where the body, willpower, emotions and community all work together.
Sport helps students to understand their own limits, manage frustration, sustain effort, respect rules, wait their turn, care for others and understand that personal achievement is never separate from responsibility towards the group.
In our Olympics, we are aware that medals are not the only things that shine, and that not everything of value reaches the podium.

Sometimes, true greatness happens far from the applause: in the noble gesture, in the silent effort, in the accepted fall, in the helping hand, in the look that recognises another.

There, a student discovers their inner strength, their dignity and their ability to keep moving forward.

Here is a short fragment of an academic dialogue on mythology, classical culture and the transmission of stories.

The reflection began with a chronology of gods, which served as a starting point to observe how Rome assimilated and reinterpreted many elements of Greek mythology, adapting them to its own culture, values and practical way of understanding the world.

From there, the dialogue moved towards specific figures such as Penelope, a character from the Greek tradition whose intelligence, presence and role within the narrative raise very interesting questions: is she a silent protagonist or a secondary character?

In a reflection on the differences and inconsistencies between stories, Loki also appeared: widely known through the Marvel universe, but originally a figure from Norse mythology. This opened up a comparative view of different mythological traditions and the ways in which they explain cunning, deception and destiny.

Rather than a closed debate, it was an open academic dialogue in which each participant was able to express her conclusions freely, contrast ideas and listen to the other’s perspective.
The most valuable aspect of this moment was not only the subject itself, but the depth with which it was approached. Our Upper Primary students, only 10 years old, shared their reflections with Susana Reboreda, Professor of Ancient History, who highlighted not only their behaviour and attitude, but also the richness of their knowledge, their reasoning skills and the clarity with which they expressed such complex ideas.

Vigo offers our students a privileged environment in which to grow, learn and connect with the world around them.

Open to the Atlantic and surrounded by nature, beaches and mountains, the city turns every experience into a sensory opportunity: the scent of the sea breeze, the light over the estuary, the closeness of our beautiful islands and Galicia’s natural abundance accompany learning far beyond the classroom.

To live and study here is to discover a paradise with a balcony overlooking the ocean, where learning is infused with beauty, colour and gentleness.

From Eleven School, we would like to express our sincere gratitude to the Universidade de Vigo, Ourense Campus, the Faculty of History, the Department of History, Art and Geography, and especially to Julio Prada Rodríguez, Dean of the Faculty; M. Carmen Arribas Álvarez; Susana María Reboreda Morillo, Senior Lecturer in Ancient History; Yolanda, Head of the Library; and the student collaborators who welcomed us with such kindness.
Thank you for opening your doors to us and dedicating such an enriching morning to our students, allowing them to approach Ancient History through academic rigour, university research and the value of living knowledge.
At Eleven School, we understand education as a broad, demanding experience connected to the real world. We nurture a strong academic proposal in which learning is not limited to memorising content, but encourages students to observe, question, research, connect ideas and develop critical thinking.
Visiting the university, speaking with specialists and discovering research spaces means understanding that knowledge has depth, history and future. These experiences strengthen our students’ intellectual curiosity, autonomy and academic perspective.
Our visit also coincided with the preparations for an important international archaeology congress, reminding us of the extraordinary research and outreach work carried out at the Faculty of History, Ourense Campus.
Thank you for your generosity, your time and for bringing our students closer to the beauty of History.

Although this image may look like a PE lesson… in reality, our Upper Primary students are, once again, stepping through the doors of time.

This time, their journey takes them to the Victorian era: a world of great inventions and deep contrasts, of progress and hardship, of brilliant change and childhoods that were often silent.

Through this shot drill, it was not only the body that moved. Thought moved too. Curiosity was awakened. Questions began to emerge…

What was childhood like then?

What did those children feel?

What opportunities did they have?

How has the world changed since then?

And what does History invite us to understand today?

This creates strong and lasting emotional anchors.

And you, what memories do you have of your History lessons?

🇪🇸

Empezaron a nacer preguntas...

Understanding our History: from the whole to the specific
From neuroscience, we know that the mind of a Primary student first needs to understand the whole before being able to explore the details in greater depth. The child’s brain learns better when it can build a global picture, a kind of broad map.
That is why History should not begin only with isolated dates, names or battles, but with a great narrative that speaks of people, civilisations, decisions, defeats and victories, and their great transformations. When a child connects with History, they empathise with its protagonists, understand conflicts, are surprised by its plot twists, and begin to organise time from a much deeper perspective.
In Primary, teaching History means opening a door to understanding why we are who we are today. It means honouring those who came before us, recognising their efforts, learning from the mistakes that shaped entire eras, and valuing the achievements that allow us to live today with greater awareness.
It also means learning to judge less and understand more. Because teaching History is not only about transmitting content: it is about helping students build a more human, more meaningful and kinder view of the world and its people.

Financial education: learning to make thoughtful decisions
Talking about financial education at school does not only mean talking about money. It means talking about responsibility, autonomy, critical thinking, planning, patience, decision-making and understanding the real world.
At Eleven School, we believe students need to grow with tools that help them interpret the world around them: understanding what a budget is, how a project is organised, what it means to save, invest, produce, sell, cooperate or take responsibility within a team.
High-quality financial education is not learnt by memorising isolated concepts. It is built gradually, stage by stage, through real and meaningful experiences.
In the early stages, students begin to understand the value of care, order, resources and small everyday choices. Later, in Primary, activities allow them to calculate, compare, plan, estimate and make decisions with greater awareness. In Secondary, this learning develops into more complex projects, where they can experience the organisation of a small business, work across departments, economic responsibility, communication, production and shared decision-making.
Our aim is not to form impulsive consumers, but people who are able to think, choose, organise themselves and understand the impact of their decisions.
Because good financial education is also education for life.
