Three intense days filled with emotions, shared experiences, and personal and entrepreneurial growth. 🌱

From 22 to 24 September 2026, we came together in , hosted by alongside &Knowledge @Громадська організація "Післязавтра" , to welcome 17 wonderful women from different parts of the world. 🌍

Together, we learned to recognise and value our talents, explored the barriers we may encounter on our personal and entrepreneurial journeys, and discovered practical tools to connect with our communities and identify potential investors for our ideas.

Some of the most meaningful moments came when we shared our emotions and personal experiences, creating space to listen, reflect and learn from one another. 💛

Because being a social entrepreneur means more than turning an idea into a source of income. It also means understanding ourselves, recognising the needs around us, and building a business that supports our communities and creates meaningful social change.

Thank you to every woman who brought her story, ideas and energy to these three days. ✨

Stay tuned! In our next post, we’ll take a closer look at the five modules that guided our journey together.

The space is ready ✨ Are you?
📍 Rome
📅 23–25 September 2026
What can happen when women are given the space to connect, reflect and grow?
Next week, ReRootED comes to Rome.
For three days, this room will become much more than a training space: it will be a place where women can meet, share experiences, learn from one another and explore new possibilities for their personal and professional journeys.
Through practical activities, group work and moments of reflection, we will explore themes such as self-awareness, emotional wellbeing, personal and professional skills, entrepreneurship and empowerment.
Because learning does not happen only through information. It also happens through dialogue, connection and the creation of spaces where people feel free to speak, listen, experiment and imagine new possibilities.
We are looking forward to welcoming our participants and partners to Rome and to seeing this space come alive with their voices, ideas and experiences. 🤍

Five studies. Five countries. One remarkably consistent message.

When we developed the ReRootED curriculum, we wanted it to be grounded in both practical experience and evidence. Recent research from Ukraine, Germany and across Europe reinforces many of the principles that shaped its design.

Economic inclusion is about much more than employment. Housing, language learning, childcare and social support all influence whether a woman can take up an opportunity when it appears. A job offer means little without childcare to make it workable, or without a stable place to return to at the end of the day.

Entrepreneurship often emerges from necessity rather than opportunity. When employment remains out of reach, starting a business becomes a pathway to financial independence, often the most realistic option available.

Integrated support consistently outperforms isolated interventions. A language course alone rarely changes long-term outcomes; employment services alone face the same limitation. Combined, they begin to remove the multiple barriers women encounter simultaneously.

Well-being appears throughout the research as a determining factor rather than a footnote. Confidence and emotional stability influence whether a woman feels ready to pursue work, entrepreneurship, or further learning in the first place.
Research doesn't settle every question, but it sharpens the ones we ask when designing a curriculum. Those insights shaped ReRootED from the start, and continue to guide it into its pilot phase.

What if the biggest barrier to economic inclusion isn't employment itself?

Over the past few weeks, our team at Aftertomorrow reviewed recent European research on the economic inclusion of migrant and displaced women. Different countries, different methodologies—the findings kept pointing in the same direction.

Successful economic integration depends on far more than access to jobs. Language learning, childcare, recognition of qualifications, emotional wellbeing and supportive local communities appeared consistently across the studies we reviewed. More importantly, these factors compound each other: a language course is of limited value without childcare to make attendance possible, and a recognised qualification means little if employers continue to treat it as foreign. Remove one condition, and the effectiveness of the others quickly diminishes.

One finding stood out in particular: confidence functions as an economic resource. Research increasingly suggests that emotional well-being shapes whether a woman feels able to apply for a job, start a business or commit to further learning after displacement.

This is why the ReRootED curriculum brings together entrepreneurship, resilience, wellbeing and practical planning into a single learning journey, rather than treating them as separate topics.

We've summarised some of the research that informed this thinking in our latest article.

Starting over is never easy

Joana left Colombia in search of new opportunities for her family.

In Spain, she has faced challenges that many migrant women know well: unstable employment, difficulties accessing housing and the emotional impact of being far from loved ones.

Her story reminds us that rebuilding a life takes courage, resilience and support.

At ReRootED, listening to these experiences helps us better understand the realities migrant women face and develop more inclusive opportunities.

Beyond Papers: Three Stories of Resilience, Challenges and Hope

Behind every migration journey there is a person with dreams, skills and determination—but also barriers that often remain invisible.

In our latest article, we share the stories of Andrés, Joana and Fatiha, three participants from Llanero Solidario whose experiences remind us that inclusion goes far beyond legal status.

Employment, housing, education, family and emotional wellbeing are all part of the journey towards building a new life.

At ReRootED, we believe that understanding people’s lived experiences is essential to building meaningful and inclusive solutions. Behind every migration journey there is a person with aspirations, skills and dreams, but also obstacles that can make integration difficult.

The best curricula aren't finished when they're written. They're finished when they're tested.

Why do we spend almost as much time reviewing a curriculum as writing it?

Writing a curriculum is only the first step.

Before the ReRootED curriculum reaches its first participants, it goes through a process designed to answer one simple question:

The first stage is an internal peer review. Each project partner reviews two modules developed by other organisations, assessing their clarity, accessibility, learning design and practical relevance. The goal isn't to rewrite the content—it's to strengthen it.

The revised curriculum will then be tested during the ReRootED Transnational Training Course in Rome, where participants will work through the modules, share their experiences and help identify what can be improved before the curriculum is published in its self-learning format.

Each stage brings a different perspective.

The authors ask: Did we build what we intended?
Peer reviewers ask: Is it clear, engaging and practical?
Participants ask the question that matters most: Does this make a difference for me?
That is why quality assurance in ReRootED is not a final checkpoint before publication.

It is part of the design process itself.

Because meaningful learning is created not only by those who write a curriculum, but also by those who question it, improve it and ultimately use it.

Five organisations. One curriculum. One shared goal.

The first version of the ReRootED curriculum is complete.

Over the past months, the project partners have worked together to create a learning programme that supports migrant and displaced women who want to explore social entrepreneurship—not only by developing entrepreneurial skills, but also by strengthening confidence, resilience and emotional wellbeing.

Each partner led one module while contributing to the development and review of the curriculum as a whole.

🌱 KlemKa CoLab developed Introduction to Social Entrepreneurship, helping participants understand what social entrepreneurship is and whether this path aligns with their aspirations.
🧩 Llanero Solidario led Understanding Internal & External Barriers, exploring both the structural and personal challenges that can stand in the way of entrepreneurship.
🗺️ AfterTomorrow developed Step-by-Step Roadmap—a practical guide that helps participants transform an idea into an achievable action plan through simple tools, idea validation and opportunity mapping.
💚 FacilitAscolto created Emotional & Mental Wellbeing & Resilience, placing emotional intelligence, self-leadership and wellbeing at the centre of sustainable entrepreneurship.
🚀 OMK developed Social Entrepreneurship Strategies & Management, focusing on practical approaches to managing, growing and sustaining a social initiative.

Together, these five modules guide participants through questions that many aspiring entrepreneurs ask themselves:

Where do I start?
What strengths do I already have?
What barriers are holding me back?
How can I test my idea before investing significant resources?
How do I stay resilient when things don't go as planned?
What does it take to build an initiative that creates lasting social impact?

The curriculum now moves to its next stage: review, refinement and preparation for the pilot.

Every voice matters. Every story has the power to inspire change. 🌱

Today, participants from Llanero Solidario’s social inclusion projects took part in a regional conference, where they had the opportunity to share their perspectives, experiences, and ideas.

Many of the women attending are migrants whose resilience, knowledge, and active participation remind us why creating inclusive spaces is so important. When women are given the opportunity to be heard, they become powerful agents of change within their communities.

At ReRootED, we believe that social entrepreneurship starts with empowerment, participation, and confidence. By strengthening skills and encouraging active citizenship, we help women build networks, create opportunities, and shape a more inclusive future for all.

Together, we continue building communities where every voice counts. 💚

🧵 Every stitch tells a story. Every creation builds confidence.

At Llanero Solidario, migrant women participating in our textile reuse and sewing training project are doing much more than learning new skills.

Through creativity, teamwork and sustainable textile practices, they are strengthening their confidence, developing new competencies and creating opportunities for a better future.

Sewing is not only about making clothes. It is about rebuilding self-esteem, sharing experiences, supporting one another and discovering new possibilities for personal and professional growth.

At ReRootED, we believe that empowering women means creating spaces where they can learn, connect and unlock their full potential.

Every thread weaves resilience. Every stitch creates new opportunities. 🪡💚
