Getting to Know Jeremy Newton | The Story Behind Our New Executive Head 🦁

Before he became a school leader, Jeremy Newton was a student in East London whose life was transformed by education. School gave him stability, opportunity and a sense of direction—an experience that inspired him to become an English teacher and, later, to lead international schools across Europe, South America and the Middle East.

His journey has shaped a leadership philosophy centred on listening, building strong communities and helping every student fulfil their potential as The British School – El Colegio Británico begins its next chapter.

Big changes are on the way, and Pamela O'Brien, our Deputy Head (Pastoral), shares them all in this second part of the interview.

From September 2026, we are introducing A-Levels, and in 2027, the International Baccalaureate (IB). Our students will be able to choose between three academic pathways —British Curriculum, BiBac® (Bilingual Pathway) and IB— opening doors to top universities in Spain and abroad. 🌍

Our campus is evolving too: newly renovated Early Years classrooms designed around our youngest learners, and a brand-new Sixth Form Centre where senior students can study, collaborate and grow in independence.

Getting to Know Jeremy Newton, Our New Executive Head 🦁

We are delighted to introduce Jeremy Newton, the new Executive Head of The British School – El Colegio Británico.

Jeremy brings extensive international leadership experience and a strong track record in British international education. His career includes senior leadership roles in Spain and internationally, where he has successfully led academic excellence, strategic growth and institutional development.

Over the past few months, he has been working closely with our team, getting to know our students and connecting with families as we prepare for the 2026/27 academic year.
