Phrases that aren't wrong, but they're not how native speakers actually talk!

If you learned Spanish mostly from books or classes, there's a good chance you say at least one of these. None of them are mistakes exactly, they're just the kind of thing that gives away that you learned Spanish as a second language instead of growing up with it.

By the end of the video, I show 3 different real mistakes I hear all the time in lessons, and how to say them correctly.

There's nothing wrong with textbook Spanish, but these informal phrases will make you sound a lot more natural, the way people actually talk on the street.

In daily Spanish, "profesor/a" becomes "profe." "Fin de semana" becomes "finde." "Película" becomes "peli."

This is how Spanish actually gets spoken day to day.

With the verb “decir”, you always need one of these little words to mark WHO you told something to: me, te, le, nos, les.

They usually go before the verb, not after (there are 3 exceptions to this, but that's for another post!).

If it's the first time you mention that person, add “a + la persona” after the verb, so it's clear who you mean:
Le dijo que sí a Cathy.
Once it's already clear who you're talking about, you can drop the “a + persona”:
Le dijo que sí.
