MEU UCM gives young people an opportunity to learn about the European decision-making process (ordinary legislative procedure) by taking active part on it. We recreate the debates and votings as they would happen in the European Parliament and in the Council. The European Commission role is played by the organizing team. We write and present the first drafts of the two proposals that will later be
debated, amended and voted (adopting or rejecting it) by the European Parliament and the Council (both played by the participants). In order to facilitate communication between both institutions and to make tha participants feel the pressure of the free press, a small number of participants will also play the role of journalists. The last role that students may play is the one of the lobbyist (representatives of organiced groups of interests, such as big companies or NGOs), in which they will try to convince of their point of view to MEP and ministers, in order to influence legislation.
