Birds of prey are commonly used across Spanish airports to reduce bird strike risk, as their presence tiggers an instinctive fear in other birds, creating a "no-fly zone" around aircraft operations.
The birds work alongside other tools such as vehicles, sounds and sometimes drones, and are part of a broader wildlife management programme used by Aena airports in Spain, combining safety and environmental control.
