Do you know that there are more than 160 stores in Madrid that are older than 100 years-old? A group of students from Open Campus and Engineering and Society programs explored some of them during a walking tour organized by our staff.
How does it feel to try on a hand-made cloak? And to discover thousands of buttons? and to east pastries from recipees that have not changed since mid 19th century?

On November 9th we are celebrating Día de la Almudena, Madrid local holiday, and our CIEE center is closed.
We will be back on November 10th, ready to start the new block with new exciting and inspiring courses. Until then, enjoy the beautiful fall weather!
November 1st is upon us, and as in many other countries, in Spain we honour our dead ones that day. In Spain we call it Día de Todos los Santos and we celebrate by visiting the cemeteries and eating buñuelos de viento (wind doughnuts).
We have also recently started celebrating Mexican Día de Mu***os and Halloween: you are welcome to visit astounding Mexican altars, listen to mariachi songs, participate in a Catrina parade, move your skeleton in one of the many Halloween parties and be again fascinated by the energy and spirit of this city!
PS: CIEE Madrid is closed for Nov. 1st, only the ghost will be present at the center and we do not recommend meeting them.
September's latest CIEE Teach in Spain participants just arrived! And this is how our Program Leaders welcome each of them at Madrid's airport.
Living and working abroad as an English teacher is a life-changing experience that will enhance their career and open their minds to different ways of learning a language and understanding the world.
Also, it is very fun! They meet many locals, engage with another culture and travel around while practicing their Spanish.
Follow to learn more about their upcoming experiences.

After two days of Orientation and Ice Breakers (with fruits and yummy snacks!), our Block II Open Campus students enjoy a sunny stroll at the gorgeous Retiro Park. This is a great way to relax and get to know each other.
Retiro park is a historic garden that used to be property of the kings and was later given to the people of Madrid in the 1800s. Since then, it has becomes a favourite spot to spend an afternoon, organize a picnic with friends, row a boat, play spots, enjoy some live music or read a great book on the grass.
CIEE Madrid students love this park as much as locals do! Many of them go play sports in this park, which is very wel-equipped with bars, simple machines, but also soccer and tennis courts and even a swimming pool.
