Fancy learning Spanish this autumn — or finally picking it up again?

We’re bringing two small, friendly face-to-face Spanish groups to Plas Heli in Pwllheli this September, so whether you’re starting from scratch or already have some Spanish under your belt, there’s a class for you.

🌟 Beginners · 6–7.30pm

Never learned Spanish before? No problem.

Over six weeks, we’ll build the foundations you need to start speaking Spanish from week one — greetings, introductions, everyday vocabulary, simple conversations and the basics of how the language works.

No pressure, no previous experience needed. Just a relaxed group, an experienced tutor and plenty of opportunities to have a go.

Perfect if you’re planning a trip to Spain, fascinated by Spanish-speaking cultures, or have simply always fancied learning the language.

🌟 Improvers · 7.30–9pm

Already know some Spanish? Take it further.

If you’ve completed a beginners course, studied Spanish in the past or picked up the basics along the way, this is your opportunity to move beyond set phrases and start having real conversations.

We’ll build vocabulary, deepen your grammar and work on the skills that help Spanish feel more natural — expressing opinions, asking questions, talking about everyday life and understanding more of what’s said back to you.

Both classes are taught face-to-face in small groups by an experienced tutor with over 20 years of living and working across the Spanish-speaking world.

Before every immersion trip, I get asked the same handful of questions — so here are the honest answers. 🇪🇸

❓ Is the host family safe/reliable?
Every family is vetted by AIL Málaga, our partner language school running since 2006. They're experienced specifically with international students, and each family takes max 3 students so it's never overwhelming. I've visited myself and met the team.

❓ What if my child gets homesick?
I'm on hand as trip coordinator all week, available around the clock. Kids are placed with others their age. The first day is usually an adjustment — completely normal — and most have settled in by day two or three.

❓ Can I come too?
Yes! Adults get their own Spanish classes, same building, same week — 16 hours total. It's not a drop-off trip, you can learn alongside your child.

❓ What does a day actually look like?
Mornings: Spanish lessons, split between classroom and "out and about" practice. Afternoons rotate through cooking classes, beach sports, the Alcazaba, and a guided walk through Málaga. By the end of the week, they've lived the language, not just studied it.
