Spanish tip: Don’t assume there’s only one “correct” Spanish. 🌎
Crossing a border can change the words you hear.
🥑 Aguacate in Spain = palta in Argentina
🚗 Coche in Spain = carro/auto in much of Latin America
🥔 Patata in Spain = papa in many countries
You’re not learning “wrong” Spanish — you’re learning the Spanish of a place.
That’s the magic of a language that’s alive. 🇪🇸🇦🇷

Ever ordered something in Spanish and realised… nobody understood you? 😅
One of the biggest surprises when learning Spanish is discovering that the language changes depending on where you are.
After almost 20 years living in South America (and plenty of travelling before that), I learned that Spanish isn’t one fixed language. It’s shaped by each country, its history, and the people who speak it.
A few examples:
🥑 aguacate vs palta
🚗 coche vs carro
🥔 patata vs papa
You’re not hearing “wrong Spanish” — you’re hearing local Spanish.
And honestly? That’s what makes the language so fascinating. ❤️

Spanish Summer Camps = Immersion That Actually Works
If you’ve been reading about passive Spanish learning this week, you already know the secret: children don’t need constant drilling to make progress in Spanish… they need exposure, repetition, and meaningful context.
That’s exactly what our Spanish Summer Camps are designed to do.
Instead of “learning Spanish in a lesson,” children are living Spanish in a structured immersion environment — where the language is used naturally throughout the day.
✨ Games, activities, and challenges in Spanish
✨ Guided speaking in real-life contexts
✨ Listening and responding without pressure
✨ Vocabulary that sticks because it’s experienced, not memorised
This is where passive learning and active learning meet.
Children hear Spanish all day in a way that feels fun, safe, and completely natural — and that’s when the real progress happens.
Because one week of structured immersion can often do what months of worksheets can’t:
💬 Build confidence
👂 Improve listening skills
🧠 Lock in vocabulary
🌱 Create real language instinct
And most importantly… children start to think:
“I can actually understand Spanish.”
If you want your child to experience Spanish beyond the classroom this summer, our camps are the perfect next step.

This family joined us for their second Immersion Trip last October - and feedback like this means the world. These trips take months of planning, but the heart of it is simple: creating a week where young people feel safe, supported, stretched, and genuinely excited to use their Spanish in real life.
October 2025 was full of sunshine, breakthroughs, friendships, and those little moments of confidence that stay with them long after we fly home.
If you’re curious about our trips, head over to our website for what we've got coming up later this year. www.adventuresinspanish.co.uk

Spanish learning doesn’t only happen during a lesson… ✨
Some of the biggest language breakthroughs happen in the everyday moments:
🎧 hearing a song on repeat
📚 reading the same story again
💬 using simple phrases at home
🔁 revisiting words they already know
Passive Spanish learning helps children build confidence and familiarity without pressure.
The key? Keep it simple. Keep it consistent. Keep it fun.

Want to Sound More Fluent in Spanish Fast?
Here's a secret:
Fluent speakers don't necessarily know more words than you.
They often just use useful sentence starters that help them keep the conversation flowing.
Try these 5:
🗣️ La verdad es que...
(The truth is that...)
➡️ La verdad es que me encanta viajar por España.
🗣️ Depende de...
(It depends on...)
➡️ Depende del tiempo que tenga.
🗣️ Lo que pasa es que...
(The thing is that...)
➡️ Lo que pasa es que estoy muy ocupado esta semana.
🗣️ Desde mi punto de vista...
(From my point of view...)
➡️ Desde mi punto de vista, aprender idiomas abre muchas puertas.
🗣️ Por ejemplo...
(For example...)
➡️ Me gustan muchos deportes. Por ejemplo, el senderismo y el ciclismo.
✨ Why are these so powerful?
Because they give you thinking time.
Instead of searching for the perfect sentence, you start speaking immediately and build from there.
Choose ONE of these sentence starters and use it three times today.
Which one are you going to try first?

"I understand Spanish much better than I can speak it."
If you've ever said that, you're definitely not alone.
One of the biggest myths in language learning is that confidence comes first. In reality, confidence is usually the result of speaking regularly—even when it feels uncomfortable.
The good news is that you don't need a conversation partner available every day to improve your Spanish speaking skills.
Here are three simple ways to build confidence on your own:
🗣️ Speak Spanish out loud for 5–10 minutes each day.
🎙️ Record yourself speaking and listen back to identify one small area for improvement.
🎧 Practise shadowing by repeating short Spanish audio clips and copying the pronunciation and rhythm.
The goal isn't perfect Spanish.
The goal is to get comfortable using the Spanish you already know.
What's stopping you from speaking Spanish more often?
