Doldrums

Awareness
Dead calm
You know
You feel it
Not day or night
No time
No sound
You can hear the stillness, that sound of stagnation has never sounded so loud to me
You know its coming you can feel it in your heart
You even smell it, its all your senses at once working together
Feeling in unison
The air becomes visible
Particles heavier
Floating around us
Its beautiful and ominous
at the same time.

That first pure look
I'll never forget
Eyes that saw through
Without filters
You were beautiful to me

Until my mind was polluted
Infected and pestered
By the gossip and public opinion
I let you down
I proved to be just another puppet
No different

I'll always remember what it was like
To have those pure eyes
And I'll always wish I could get that back

My mouth is full of promises
And of the things I'd like to be
Just being aware of that is not enough
It doesn't make me any different from you
Nor any better than anyone else

Water flows between us
Bringing us closer
Or Growing apart
The future is uncertain
The boat still waiting afloat
For more passengers to go onboard
Or simply to set sail
To see the world
But who's the captain?
No one knows
And maybe that's the point
No one wants to know

Christmas' coming

A nice looking wreath at the door
for my nice looking guests to feel warm
golden tinsel here and there
and colourful garlands everywhere.

Candle light
to look bright
and baubles of every colour
'cause having you here is such an honour.

Scents and flavours
laughs and smiles
cosy together
we feel alive.

I smell Christmas already
and feel ready for baking
with glitter and sprinkles
and sparkles and sugar balls.

Let me hug you
and why not spoil you a bit
with delicious cupcakes
and my granny's special recipes.

to make you dream
whisk some eggs
to help you rest
churn your butter
to make things matter
wipe your mouth
and sing out loud!

A gale-force wind is blowing outside,
it's sweeping all the leaves
together with those scents
and flavours of the past.
Its whistle is ominous
it's trying to warn me.
I guess I should stay inside,
seek refuge in between
my fluffy friends
and my welcoming couch,
and grudgingly enjoy
this wonderful
mulled wine.
