And that’s a wrap!!!
An excellent performance by the students from the International College Spain brought an end to our Expeditions for this academic year.
Their 4 day Gold expedition in the Sierra Nevada posed some particular challenges for the students, including a very windy wild camp at an altitude of 3000m and temperatures of 35 degrees during their last day’s trek through the Alpujarras.
I’m very pleased to say that all of the students passed their expedition section with flying colours. Good luck with the rest of your Award!

What a week! An excellent effort from the students of Swans International School and Surval Montreux on a very challenging Gold Expedition in the Sierra Nevada.
Every international award expedition needs to have an ‘aim’, something that demonstrates that the students are engaged in their expedition and using it as a platform to learn something new. A long winter in the Sierra Nevada has left behind a lot of snow from about 2700m, giving us the opportunity to teach the students some ‘winter mountain skills’, including ice axe arrests and the use of snow anchors for abseiling, making for a unique and interesting DofE experience and a great focus for their expedition aim.
We hope you enjoy the photos!

It's been another AWESOME night and day for our teams from ICS and St George's in Madrid on their Gold Qualifier. Here are a few photos from their time up high!

The teams are settling in well to their wild camp - choosing sheltered pitches, boiling drinking water and cooking their dinner after another tough day in the high mountains.

The teams are ready to go again this morning after a tough uphill slog yesterday and an overnight camp at Refugio Poqueira. Next stop is Siete Lagunas for their wild camp at 3000m!

Both groups are now on route - 8 hours of uphill to the refuge!
