Teachers often teach collaboration, communication and problem-solving.

But how often do they experience these skills themselves?

In this simple tower challenge, participants had to plan, communicate, adapt, make decisions and work together under time pressure.

The goal wasn’t really to build the tallest tower.

The real goal was to experience active learning, teamwork and creative problem-solving firsthand.

Design Thinking in practice.

Using the Design Thinking methodology, participants examined real challenges connected to Málaga’s Guadalmedina River, applying a structured process of observation, analysis, ideation and solution development.

By working on authentic local issues, participants experienced how Design Thinking can foster creativity, critical thinking, collaboration and problem-solving skills.

🎲 Some of the best learning moments are the ones you never plan.

During our Gamification course in Málaga, we stepped outside for an activity and came across a mural celebrating traditional street games and play.

Then, just around the corner, we found local residents doing exactly what we had been discussing all morning: playing.

The coincidence was impossible to ignore.

That unexpected encounter sparked conversations, cultural exchange and reflections that no presentation slide could have planned.

Sometimes, all it takes is stepping outside the classroom to discover that the world is already teaching the lesson.

👊 How do you open a closed fist?

Most people immediately try force.

And most of the time, force is met with resistance.

During this activity, participants were given a simple challenge: open your partner’s fist.

The interesting part isn’t the activity itself, it is the reflection that followed.

Some participants pushed harder.

Others negotiated.

Some simply asked.

And surprisingly, those who chose communication often achieved their goal first.

💡 A powerful reminder for educators:

When a student resists, our first instinct is often to apply more pressure, more rules or more control.

But sometimes, a conversation can achieve what force cannot.

Because learning doesn’t only happen through activities.

It happens through reflection.
