I have come to find flags inappropriate and old-fashioned, symbols of past conquest and intolerance. Values opposite to my mission to celebrate cultures, peoples and the rich diversity therein.

So with this image I hope to show their purely functional value as markers of those different cultures and the tools available to us these days to bring them together. For my part, I am here to help navigate these international seas, from my experience communicating and working with people and teams around the world and living and working in other countries myself.

As I start the new year and new groups, I find myself repeating the same advice: as teachers, we show you the door, but you have to walk through it! It's you, not us, that that succeed. Looking for one or two more people for a small midday/early afternoon (12-5pm) conversation group (max 5 people). No level test required, just an ability to maintain a minimal amount of conversation. Especially for those who are a bit rusty (rovellat)!

Ready for the new term? Here's a lighthearted way to start for more advanced learners - something they used to teach at school until very recently when they realised there are less words that comply with the "rule" than there are exceptions, some of which you can see on the coffee mug. They say "exceptions prove the rule" - in this case they prove the rule is absurd!! See you soon, I hope!
