🤹‍♂️ Word of the Day: Juggling

Have you ever seen someone keep several balls in the air at the same time? That's called juggling! 🎪

But here's something interesting: we also use juggle metaphorically.

✅ She can juggle work and family life very well. ✅ I'm juggling three different projects this month.

So juggling can mean: 🎾 Throwing and catching several objects to entertain people. 📅 Managing several tasks or responsibilities at the same time.

Can you juggle? And if not balls, what things are you juggling in your daily life? 🤔

🍰🏜️ One letter can completely change the meaning!

Many English learners mix up dessert and desert because they look so similar — but their pronunciation and meanings are very different.

🍎 dessert /dɪˈzɜːt/ = something sweet you eat after a meal
🐪 desert /ˈdez.ət/ = a very dry area with sand and little rain

💡 Quick memory tip:
dessert has two “s” because you usually want seconds of dessert! 😄

Can you write one sentence with each word? ✍️

⚠️ Tricky Word for Spanish Speakers: impressive

This word can cause confusion because it looks similar to the Spanish word impresivo… but in English, impressive has a very positive meaning 👀

✨ impressive = something that makes you admire or respect it because it is excellent, special, or remarkable

💬 Examples:
🎾 “That was an impressive performance.”
📚 “She made impressive progress in English.”
🏔️ “The view from the top was really impressive.”

❌ In English, we don’t usually use impressive to mean “someone who gets emotional easily.”

That’s why false friends can be so tricky for language learners!

👉 Can you think of something you find impressive?

B2 English challenge 👇

Do you know which preposition comes next? 👀

apologise ___
approve ___
argue ___
care ___
focus ___
insist ___
laugh ___
recover ___

✅ Correct answers: apologise for
approve of
argue about
care about
focus on
insist on
laugh at
recover from

These combinations are called dependent prepositions — and they’re one of the biggest differences between “good English” and natural English ✨

💡 Learn them as complete chunks, not as separate words.

Example: ✔️ I apologised for being late.
✔️ She recovered from the illness quickly.

💬 Which one do you find the hardest to remember?

Or challenge yourself and write ONE sentence using any of today’s expressions 👇
