What happens when a culinary legend steps into a science lab? Total electricity.

We are still buzzing from an unforgettable visit at our Gastrotur hub! The team from , the absolute icons with 2 Michelin stars and 14 years in the World’s Top 10, dropped by our Emofood lab to explore the deep science of emotion in gastronomy.

We showed them how we decode the exact feelings behind the flavors.
They shared the mind-bending philosophy that makes them world-class.

The synergy was unmatched, and it proved one thing: through Gastrotur, the future of food is going to be deeply emotional.

If you could engineer a dish to make you feel a specific emotion, what feeling would you choose? Let us know below! 👇

Gastronomy is science, culture, and creativity.

Our Advanced Course in Gastronomic Sciences explored culinary innovation, local products, and the unique food identity of the Canary Islands, aligning naturally with the vision of

A journey of flavors, knowledge, and connection.

From the Canary Islands to the heart of Central Europe.

The TiDES team (Institute of Tourism and Sustainable Economic Development at the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria) took part in the Gastrotour Project Workshop, held from May 3–6 in Lednice and Brno, Czech Republic.

Over four days of intensive collaboration, partners from across Europe and beyond came together to exchange knowledge, strengthen international cooperation, and advance new approaches that connect gastronomy, tourism, innovation, and territorial development.

A meaningful step forward in shaping a more collaborative and future-oriented model for gastronomic tourism.

We have officially joined the European Network of Living Labs

European Network of Living Labs is the world’s largest network of Living Labs, bringing together leading organisations that drive open innovation, user-centred research and real-world experimentation across Europe and beyond.

Living Labs are environments where innovation is not only designed in theory, but tested, validated and improved with real users in real contexts. ENoLL connects these ecosystems globally, enabling collaboration between universities, research centres, companies and public institutions working on innovation with societal impact.

Being part of ENoLL represents an important step for EMOTUR Living Lab. It validates our work in tourism innovation, experience design and applied research, and integrates us into an international ecosystem shaping the future of innovation in Europe.

For EMOTUR, this means:
• Access to international Living Lab collaborations
• Participation in European research and innovation projects
• New opportunities for co-creation and experimentation in tourism
• Stronger positioning of the Canary Islands as a tourism innovation hub

This is not only a milestone. It is a gateway to new partnerships, knowledge exchange and global impact.

But what happens when you take an island icon and look at it through the lens of science? 🧠

sl teamed up with Emotur Lab for a fascinating neuromarketing study on the new design using eye-tracking and face-coding technology. The results proved what we’ve always known in our hearts:

🔹 Our blind taste tests showed that people don’t just love Clipper for its flavor, they love it for what it represents.
🔹 Unmatched cultural roots: "Tradition" and "Canarian-ness" scored above 89% in implicit brand association. That’s the kind of love international competitors simply can't buy!
🔹 The eye-tracking data revealed that with the new packaging, Canary eyes go straight to the iconic boat logo, making it instantly memorable. While the classic design still holds a lot of nostalgia, 75% of participants gave the new look a massive thumbs up, calling it vibrant, fresh, and eye-catching.

Because at the end of the day, some brands aren't just consumed, they're inherited. Happy Canary Islands Day to the brands that are a true part of who we are!

Connecting the Canary Islands and Africa through innovation, cooperation, and shared knowledge.

Today, Sergio Moreno Gil takes part in the roundtable discussion on Sustainable Economy, Cooperation, Entrepreneurship, and Innovation Bridge to Africa 2026 — a strategic international event bringing together institutions, researchers, experts, companies, and organizations to strengthen collaboration between Europe and Africa.

Through this second edition, the Canary Islands continue to position themselves as a key bridge for dialogue, sustainable development, and international cooperation, promoting shared solutions in areas such as sustainability, education, healthcare, innovation, and energy transition.

A space where territories, talent, and future come together to build meaningful connections.

Last week, Patricia Picazo and Sergio Moreno were at Harvard University, ranked #1 globally by the Shanghai Academic Ranking of World Universities.

Exploring the intersection of neuroscience, decision-making and consumer behavior alongside practitioners and researchers from across the field.

At EmoturLab, connecting with international academic ecosystems isn't a detour from our work. It's part of how we do it.

Neuromarketing, experiential analytics and AI-driven behavioral research are evolving fast. The organizations shaping that evolution are the ones in the room when the frameworks are still being built.

Tourism is no longer about where people go.
It’s about how they feel, decide, and remember.

In the Master International Tourism & Sustainable Development, you don’t just study tourism systems — you learn how to understand human behavior behind every travel decision.

Through Neuromarketing in Tourism, you explore what traditional research cannot show:

what travelers truly feel, what drives their choices, and what makes destinations unforgettable.

With , you connect sustainability, innovation, and emotional intelligence to design the future of tourism.

Because the real competition is not destinations.
It’s perception.

Bridge to Africa 2026 starts today and we’re ready! 🌍

Sergio Moreno will be moderating a roundtable on sustainable economy, entrepreneurship and innovation between Africa and the Canary Islands, sharing the room with economists and development experts from Senegal, UNESCO and Côte d’Ivoire. Real conversations. Real impact.

We’ll also be presenting our UNESCO Chair, led by Carmelo León González and Matías González Hernández — a project we’ve been building with a lot of intention and even more passion.
And if you’re wondering what ties all of this together, it’s the International Master in Tourism and Sustainable Development (TiDES). A programme that exists exactly for moments like this: where tourism, cooperation and sustainable development stop being separate ideas and start becoming one. That’s what we test through Emoturlab, and what we bring to life every day through Spain Living Lab and Canarias Living Lab.

See you in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria!
