UP4, Institute of Sciences, S.L., organizes an International Conference on Applied Mathematics and Nonlinear Sciences from 25 to 27 October 2016 in an amazing location in the shore of the Small Sea in La Maga (Spain).

This Conference ( http://appliedmathematics2016.up4sciences.org) will provide a place to exchange recent developments, discoveries and progresses on the fields of Applied Mathematics and Nonlinear Sciences. The aims of the conference are to present the fundamental and frontier theories and techniques for modern science and technology; to stimulate more research interest for exploration of Applied Mathematics and Nonlinear Sciences problems and; to directly pass the new knowledge to the young generation, mathematicians, engineers and technologists in the corresponding fields. The conference will focus on the recent developments, findings and progresses on fundamental theories and principles, analytical and symbolic approaches, computational techniques in nonlinear physical science and nonlinear mathematics. Topics of interest include but not limited to

Nonlinear differential equations and applications
Nonlinear dynamics and engineering nonlinearity
Discontinuous dynamical systems and control
Synchronization and chaos control
Neurodynamics and brain dynamics
Social dynamics and complexity
Switching systems with impulses
Discrete and Continuous Dynamical Systems
Neuronal signal analysis (EEG, BCI)
The conference is organized by the research group working on the theory of dynamical systems of Región of Murcia (see http://www.um.es/sistdinamicos/) under the frame of the company UP4, Institute of Sciences, S.L. The conference will be aimed at Applied Mathematics and Nonlinear Sciences in all branches of the dynamical systems: topological dynamics, low dimensional dynamics, differential equations, partial differential equations, Hamiltonian systems, difference equations, ergodic theory,..., etc.

This conference has a great tradition, the last edition where held in Luxor, Egypt in 2015.

The conference will take place at the Servigroup Galúa Hotel located in La Manga del Mar Menor, Spain. Arrival day is 25 October 2016 and the departure day is 27 October 2016. The first talk will be given in the morning of 25 Oct. and the last one on 27 Oct. (probably before the lunch).

Theory on fractal dimension for fractal structures with applications in finance

This book provides a new approach to fractal dimension theory from the point of view of Asymmetric Topology through fractal structures. Fractal dimension is the main invariant of each fractal set which gives information about the irregularities that it presents when being examined with enough level of detail. In this work, the authors develop new models to calculate the fractal dimension for any subspace with respect to a fractal structure which generalize the classical fractal dimension definitions, namely, both the Hausdorff dimension and the box-counting dimension. They also include some specific results for self-similar sets. In addition, the new definitions of fractal dimension can be calculated in empirical applications unlike it happens with the Hausdorff dimension, which may result hard or even impossible to calculate. The second part of the book contains an interesting application of fractal dimension for fractal structures to financial markets. The authors introduce some tools and prove some results which connect the fractal dimension with the Hurst exponent which has been classically used to look for long-range dependence in financial time series. These theoretical results allow to provide new algorithms especially accurate to estimate the self-similarity exponent of a wide range of processes which includes fractional Brownian motions and Lévy stable motions as particular cases. Moreover, some specific analysis have also been carried out for real stocks and international indexes.

The Dynamical System Research Group of Region of Murcia (http://www.um.es/sistdinamicos/) has booked with UP4, Institute of Sciences, S.L. the integral organization of XXV Congress on Differential Equations and Applications/XV Congress on Applied Mathematics (CEDYA 2017) that will be held in Cartagena in 2017.

The Dynamical System Research Group of Region of Murcia (http://www.um.es/sistdinamicos/) has booked with UP4, Institute of Sciences, S.L. the integral organization of XXV Congress on Differential Equations and Applications/XV Congress on Applied Mathematics (CEDYA 2017) that will be held in Cartagena in 2017. This conference is the most traditional Spanish conference in Applied Mathematics. It is supported by the Spanish Society of Applied Mathematics (SEMA, http://www.sema.org.es) and the last edition was organized on 2015, Cadiz (http://cedya2015.uca.es).
