One day later we are still horrified by the multiple simultaneous terrorist attacks that have taken place in Catalonia. Many members of our Secretariat, Chairs and delegates come from Barcelona and they could have perfectly been one of the 15 dead and +100 wounded. This thread will not change our view of tolerance, multiculturalism and diversity, which we are terribly proud of. Initiatives such as SEIMUN contribute towards the consolidations of these fundamental values amongst the youngest and we hope to keep contibuting in the future. Today and more than ever we stand united!

Our co-founder is applying for a scholarship for a Master in International Relations at the prestigious European University in Madrid. Being chosen would mean so much for him, given he has demostrated in the past years a strong interest in International Affairs and Diplomacy. Yesterday, this year's Conference Manager, Jesús Cordero and Secretary General, Joaquim Candel met with Spanish Minister of Health, Equality and Social Affairs, Dolors Montserrat in a youth event organized in Barcelona. We hope to have such extraordinary woman and leader next year at our Opening Ceremony. She is without doubt an inspiration for everyone!

This week we met with Mrs. El Hilali, Youth Coordinator at the Union For The Mediterranean in Barcelona. At SEIMUN we are strong advocators of the great work this organization does to improve the lives of the Euro - Mediterran region. This is why we already on our first edition simulated the UFTM back in 2016 as one of the six committees with huge success and excellent feedback. We have agreeded to have further meetings with the Secretariat at their headquarters and have again the UFTM as one of the seven Committees for 2018. There, we will count with the academic support of the organization and its experts to create the best experience for delegates! We thank Mrs. Hilali and the institution for their unconditional support and partnership. We hope to announce new common projects soon!

After a very successful 2017 edition, SEIMUN, the leading Iberian conference, is looking forward to its next year’s edition. Given the remarkable success of this year’s edition, combined with the optimistic previsions for next year, we will incorporate a seventh Committee to the conference. This expansion has a positive impact on the new Secretariat, whose structure will be changed and and adapted to the new scenario. At SEIMUN we are driven by excellence, this is why we open the four USG positions in order to get the best and most experienced MUN-addicts to maintain and even improve the standards of excellence and professionalism that make our conference stand out within the Spanish circuit. Being part of the Secretariat and the SEIMUN family is a tremendous pleasure, but also a huge responsibility. If you take on the challenge, for the next ten months, you will create a positive impact on youth participation, develop excellent time-management skills and make life-lasting international friends.


The four positions offered are the following: USG for Academics, USG for Chairing, USG for European Committees and USG for Public Relations and Partnerships.

SEIMUN 2018 will take place on the 12th -15th April 2018. The deadline for applications will be Friday 7th July before midnight GMT +1. Interviews will take place on the second week of July (10th – 16th July). If a candidate is unavailable during this week please state it in point 8 of the form.

Today, World Refugee day, we stand with the most vulnerable ones, the refugees, who are forced to leave their home countries in the search of a better future. For this, we want to highlight the importance our partner, the Spanish Commission for the Aid of Refugees (CEAR) is doing and thank it´s Secretary General Estrella Galán for her inspirational speech at this year´s opening ceremony at SEIMUN. Our delegate Kazi Raihanul Bari Rifat, originally from Bangladesh has just returned from his European trip, where he attended SEIMUN.
