๐ฆ The thesis proposes a new ๐๐ฒ๐๐ซ๐จ๐ฌ๐จ๐๐ข๐๐ฅ ๐๐๐ฌ๐จ๐ฎ๐ซ๐๐ ๐๐ซ๐๐๐ง ๐๐๐ฑ๐ฎ๐ฌ (๐๐๐๐)
framework, which conceptualises urban water management as a multilayer resource nexus linking water, energy, food, ecosystems and society.
โป๏ธ ๐ป Within the model, system infrastructure is defined by four design strategies: circularity, scale, greening and digitalisation. The framework sets out a planning cycle for circular interventions and assesses system performance through environmental and socioeconomic functionalities.
๐๏ธ Moreover, the thesis tests a spatial decision-support method in Girona, combining GIS-MCDA, graph-based clustering, risk indicators, socio-environmental criteria and stakeholder preferences.

๐ฆ ๐ชด Emma Companyโs doctoral thesis focuses on the recovery of phosphorus (P), potassium (K) and nitrogen (N) from pig manure and urban wastewater to produce struvite and K-struvite, two slow-release fertilizers. The work investigates precipitation as a nutrient recovery method and explores electrochemical precipitation which, unlike the former, does not require the addition of external chemical reagents.
