on the day of an equinox, enveloped into the scent choir of moist soil, awakening trees and first flowers, spring comes to foresta. invited by the playful gesture of 🧚💚🦋

will you accept an invitation, an imaginative leap to be a butterfly this spring? to leave the cocoon, to make space, to spread your wings, to taste with your feet, to sense with the little hairs covering your body, and to use your compound eyes to see otherwise.

even if you don’t have thousands of tiny lenses making up your eye, you have thousands of invisible multiplicities making up your “i”:

affinities, alienations, belongings, vulnerabilities and other shared planetary existentials, through which the contours of othering can magically appear or disappear any moment.

where violence requires an ‘other’ in order to exist and be justified, the butterfly effect reminds us that it may be the very components of personality that don’t allow us to see some other components of personality and to take yet others seriously.

our horse neighbor whispered this morning it’s a begin-time. time of pregnant hopefulness in spite of. time to listen to what may come from silence, to trust the instincts, to send love, make honest coalitions, and hold space for the renewal of the possible. within local contexts that may spill into larger planetary circles.

if our collective imagination is being hijacked, whether by fear, worry, polarization, aggression, a sense of superiority or just being knocked down by circumstances, our continuous effort could be to re-enchant the imagination, to reconnect to wonder, be guided anew by the sense of awe for being part of this incredible process - life on earth.

we wish you a gentle and restorative 2026, reconnecting to what is meaningful to you.

for us one of the key inquiries guiding our work has been how to grow the capacity to move from extractivist and abusive relations towards more caring and bonding in the intra-relational spaces we inhabit. and with the beginning of this new year’s cycle, we open the doors at foresta seasonal academy for a new iteration to walk the winter trail towards more nearness with (your) relational space.

those who speak with the sky say that the planets tell of a transformational year ahead. for us it’s about bringing the large of the global to the small of everyday. inviting you to look through the curtains of time into your own life and how you stand in and with entanglement and unseen connections, reciprocity and boundaries, diversity and conflicts, bonding and resonance, sympoiesis and wonder, and how does discourse match the everyday beingness.

we walk this trail every year, since the learning within relational spaces is infinite. if you want to walk with us this winter, in your own pace, in your own time (since at the moment we do not hold space for group work), you will find a link with more info in profile.

in time of winter solstice, when outer travel holds its breath and the loving darkness of cold waters calls for another kind of expedition, the new winter comes to foresta. invited this year by as an expedition to belonging. called to step onto the ship, to join the militant multispecies alliance into the ceremonies of winter.

who makes the planet habitable and in what ways? what deepens our care and respect for the communities of plants, rivers, mountains, animals, humans, and many others who live with us in this exuberant tangle of relations?

‘relating to the living’ is a core theme of foresta. 1,5 years ago we also began this research thread for a new season of our video book, following inquiries into collective cultivation of planetary imaginaries that attend to our systemic entanglements, to the need for new dynamics between the living, for care to become the base of all relating.

in times when planetary boundaries are being overstepped, is it really possible to step out of the unsustainable patterns of work? sustainability discourses operate on a frequency of the same paradigm that produced unsustainability, the narrow space of rationality, often trying to intervene with the same “master’s tools”. facts vibrate at the multispecies speed of mystery. nature is not an external site.

during this trail we touch subjects like social imaginaries, degrowth, regenerative organising, unbewitching finance, commons and commoning. bringing values, intentions and practicalities into alignment with actions and impacts they have on ourselves, one another and the larger ecologies we are part of.
