Do you say “I need talking” or “I need to talk”?👀

English verbs often come with a pattern.

In The Proposal, listen to these two:

✨ **NEED + TO + VERB**
→ I need to talk to you.
→ I need to leave.
→ I need to practice my English.

✨ **STOP + VERB-ING**
→ Stop talking.
→ Stop worrying.
→ Stop making excuses.

Don’t just memorize need and stop.

Learn what comes after them.

That’s how you build English sentences more naturally — and faster.

You learned that -ED = “ed.”

But that’s not how we usually pronounce it. 👀

-ED actually has 3 sounds in English:

1️⃣ /t/ → worked, stopped, watched
2️⃣ /d/ → played, called, lived
3️⃣ /ɪd/ → wanted, needed, started

🌱 Here’s the shortcut:

If the verb ends in a T or D sound, add the extra syllable /ɪd/.

wanted → want-id
needed → need-id

Otherwise, listen for the final sound:

👉 Vibration in your throat? → /d/
played, called, lived

👉 No vibration? → /t/
worked, stopped, watched

So we say “workt”, not “work-ed.” ⭐

Now say all 9 words OUT LOUD.
Don’t just read them — your mouth needs the practice.

This is the part of teaching English I never get tired of.

Not perfect grammar.
Not knowing every word.
Not sounding “native.”

It’s the moment someone who has spent YEARS thinking:

“I know English… so why can’t I speak it?”

suddenly realizes they just answered someone without translating every word in their head first.

Maybe it was only one sentence.

But that one sentence matters.

Because confidence in English usually doesn’t arrive in one huge breakthrough.

It happens in tiny moments:

You answer without rehearsing.
You stop correcting yourself halfway through.
You forget to translate.
You say what you wanted to say — and keep going.

That’s when English starts becoming yours.

And those are the moments I still get excited about after all these years of teaching. 💜

If you understand English but your mind seems to freeze when it’s your turn to speak, I made a free 6-minute training for you.

How do you use “so much” in English?

Don’t memorize Taylor Swift’s sentence.

Steal the PATTERN. 👇

Taylor says:

“You make it so much fun.”

Now watch what happens when we keep the structure but change the ending:

You make it so much + ____

→ You make it so much easier.
→ You make it so much better.
→ You make it so much more interesting.
→ You make it so much more enjoyable.

And here’s another pattern you can steal:

verb + so much

→ I enjoyed it so much.
→ I learned so much.
→ Thank you so much.
→ I miss it so much.

THIS is how I want you to learn English.

Not by collecting random vocabulary.

I want you to notice the English native speakers actually use, recognize the pattern, and then make it YOURS.

Because knowing a phrase is one thing.

Being able to pull it out of your brain when someone is standing in front of you waiting for an answer? That’s different.

If I had to start over and my goal was to actually speak English, here’s what I’d do differently:

1. I’d speak from DAY ONE.
Even if all I could say was, “I’m tired,” “I don’t know,” or “I like this.”

2. I’d learn chunks, not lonely words.
Not just depend → It depends on…
Not just afraid → I’m afraid of…

3. I’d repeat the SAME English.
You don’t need 100 new expressions every week. You need your useful English to become automatic.

4. I’d talk to myself. A LOT. 😂
In the shower. In the car. Making dinner. Getting dressed.
Your brain needs practice finding English without a textbook in front of you.

5. I’d copy native speakers out loud.
Their rhythm. Their pauses. Their pronunciation. Not just the words.

6. I’d practice what to say when my mind goes BLANK.
“Give me a second…”
“How can I say this?”
“What I mean is…”

Because real conversations don’t give you unlimited thinking time.

7. I’d stop measuring progress by how much I KNOW.
I’d measure it by how much English I can actually USE.

8. And I’d stop waiting to feel ready.
You become a speaker by speaking.

If you understand a lot of English but the words disappear when it’s your turn to talk, I made a FREE 6-minute training for you.

I’ll show you why you may be freezing and what to start doing instead.

10 things I stopped telling English learners to do 👇

Because knowing more English and being able to USE your English are two very different things.

1 — Stop trying to learn more and more vocabulary.
Start using the words you already know in real sentences.

2 — Stop translating every sentence in your head.
Train yourself to think in short English phrases instead.

3 — Stop waiting until your English is “better” before you speak.
Speaking is HOW your English gets better.

4 — Stop trying to make every sentence perfect.
Your goal is communication first. Perfection slows you down.

5 — Stop only studying silently.
English needs to come out of your mouth. Read, repeat, shadow and speak OUT LOUD.

6 — Stop memorizing long lists of words.
Learn useful phrases and patterns you can actually grab during a conversation.

7 — Stop thinking a mistake means you’re bad at English.
Mistakes are part of using a language in real life.

8 — Stop spending all your time on grammar exercises.
Grammar matters — but you also need to train your brain to retrieve English quickly when someone is waiting for your answer.

9 — Stop saying, “I understand English, but I can’t speak it.”
You CAN speak. You need to practice turning passive English into active English.

10 — Stop waiting to feel confident before you speak.
Confidence comes AFTER you start using your English, not before.

And this is exactly why I created my FREE 6-minute training: Stop Translating and Start Speaking.

I’ll show you what may be causing you to freeze — and what to start doing differently.

-FUL = full of
-LESS = without

careful = you pay attention
careless = you don't pay attention
fearful = afraid
fearless = not afraid at all

Memory tip: FULL has two Ls. The ending -ful has only one. Careful, not carefull.

Watch out: helpful and helpless are not opposites. Helpless means you can't help yourself.

Say one pair out loud right now 🌱
