Inka! 🐕 (Our Basque Shepherd-mix)
She’s the BEST pup, and I ALWAYS miss her when we’re traveling. Luckily, I’m sent pics and updates to let me know that she’s happy and healthy when we aren’t at home.
I typically speak both English and Spanish to her, except for commands that we’ve exclusively taught in Spanish — we do live in Spain, after all. But I (naturally) speak to her in English often also.
⁉️Did you know ⁉️ Lots of people teach their pet/dog commands in English because they’re only one syllable and very easy to distinguish.

Menus in a foreign country.
Have you ever travelled and found yourself struggling to understand the menu? A lot of places have menus in English, even when the native language *isn’t* English!
Being the lingua franca, English is commonly found on menus, and in restaurants in general. Sometimes the translation is a bit off, but English menus help guide us when we are completely lost!
Has an English menu helped you while traveling? What country would you want to visit (post pandemic!)?

“Do what you love, and you’ll never work a day in your life.”
A simple expression, yet so complicated! Your job can be amazing but still have its drawbacks. You might feel like you’re doing what you were always meant to do, yet still have terrible, awful, no-good very bad days. I know this is true for me. I love what I do; I love languages and learning how one is related to another and I really enjoy learning how to best use language to communicate your thoughts and feelings. But it can be so difficult at times!
But my bottom line is: I love what I do, and I love learning the ins-and-outs of language. 🤟👩🏼🏫
