💛 Don’t you know what Yellow Day is? Let me tell you…

Yellow Day, celebrated on 20th June, is often known as the happiest day of the year. It’s a day dedicated to positivity, optimism, sunshine, friendship, and all the little things that make life brighter.

The colour yellow is also psychologically linked to joy, creativity, confidence, and optimism - qualities we could definitely use more of in the world right now.

So, on 20th June, wear something yellow, share a smile, spread some good energy, and help brighten someone’s day. Sometimes the smallest gestures can make the biggest difference. 💛☀️✨

Then start practicing with me and you’ll see how we get you closer to doing it 🤗

Sultan is only 3 months old and still getting used to his new home 🐾

He stayed calm and patiently waited while I did my self practice, and only came looking for cuddles once I had finished. No interruptions, no mischief—just quietly waiting for his moment. ❤️

He’s the newest member of our family, and honestly, he’s been an absolute joy from day one. Every day he brings a little more love, a little more laughter, and a lot more cuddles. I think I’m pretty lucky to have him. 😻

“Why don’t you just do some yoga? It’s your hobby.”

But yoga isn’t my hobby. It’s my lifestyle.

A hobby is something you do when you feel like it. A lifestyle is something that becomes part of who you are. It accompanies you through the good days, the difficult days, the busy days, and the days when motivation is nowhere to be found.

There are plenty of days when I don’t feel like rolling out my mat and doing a full asana practice. Sometimes I’d rather spend my time playing with fun postures, practising an inversion, a handstand, or a headstand. Other days I feel more drawn to sitting quietly, breathing, meditating, or simply lying down and resting.

But yoga has taught me that the practices we need the most are often the ones we don’t feel like doing.

Just as we don’t only brush our teeth when we’re in the mood, we don’t need to wait for motivation to practise yoga. We practise because we know the benefits are there. We know how much better we feel afterwards—physically, mentally, and emotionally.

This is one of the messages I try to share in retreats. When people spend several days immersed in yoga, with more than one practice each day, they often discover something important: yoga isn’t just what happens on the mat during class. It’s the way you breathe when life becomes stressful. It’s the awareness you bring to your body. It’s how you respond to challenges. It’s how you create moments of stillness in a busy world.

I’m not criticising anyone who currently sees yoga as a hobby. Every journey starts somewhere, mine started exactly like this. But if yoga is a hobby for you today, I invite you to explore what happens when it becomes a lifestyle.

You don’t need to practise for hours every day. Even a few conscious breaths, a short movement practice, or a few minutes of meditation can be enough to keep that connection alive.

Over time, yoga stops being something you do and becomes something that supports you. It accompanies you through life’s ups and downs, helping you feel more grounded, more present, and ultimately, happier.

And that’s where the real transformation begins.

A lot of people look at this exercise and think it’s easy because you’re close to the floor. In reality, it’s a deceptively challenging balance, strength, and mobility drill.

In this variation, one leg is extended while the opposite knee stays grounded, and the hands are used as little “training wheels” to help you find stability. The further you walk your fingers forward, the harder it becomes because you create a longer lever and shift more of your body weight away from your base of support. That means your core, hip stabilisers, and standing leg have to work much harder to stop you from collapsing or losing balance.

Some of the key benefits include:

✅ Improves balance and coordination by challenging your body in an asymmetrical position.

✅ Strengthens the core, especially the deep stabilising muscles that help support the spine.

✅ Develops hip stability and control, which can improve performance in yoga, running, and everyday movement.

✅ Increases hamstring mobility in the extended leg while teaching active flexibility rather than passive stretching.

✅ Enhances body awareness and concentration because even small shifts in weight can change the difficulty dramatically.

What makes this exercise so valuable is that it combines strength, flexibility, balance, and focus all at the same time. It’s a reminder that a pose doesn’t have to look impressive to be incredibly demanding.

Vatayanasana (Horse Face Pose) has been one of the most challenging poses for me throughout my Ashtanga journey. It demands a combination of hip mobility, knee stability, balance, strength, and patience that I simply didn’t have when I first encountered it.

After completing my Ashtanga Second Series training, I had to demonstrate this pose as part of the final practice. Looking back, it’s amazing to see the progress. What once felt impossible is now a pose I can actually hold with confidence.

This experience reminded me that progress in yoga rarely happens overnight. Sometimes growth is measured in months or even years of consistent practice, showing up on the mat, and trusting the process even when results aren’t immediate.

The poses that challenge us the most often become our greatest teachers.

Summer is here ☀️

Longer days, warmer evenings, and a reminder to spend a little more time outside. Summer has a way of slowing things down and helping us reconnect with the simple things: fresh air, movement, laughter, sunshine, and moments that don’t need to be rushed.

For me, it’s also a reminder to take care of the basics - stay hydrated, move your body, and make time for things that help you feel good. Whether that’s yoga in the park, a walk in nature, meeting friends for a coffee, or simply sitting in the sun for a few minutes, those small moments can make a big difference.

Here’s to making the most of the season, creating good memories, and enjoying the extra light while it’s here. ☀️🌿

Just finished filming a new class, and I have to admit that teaching while a two-and-a-half-month-old kitten zooms around the room is a whole new challenge. 😅

Sultan decided he was part of the production team today and even made a special appearance in the video. Between trying to stay focused, keeping an eye on him, and resisting the urge to stop every five seconds for cuddles, it definitely kept me on my toes.

The class is finished, Sultan has stolen the show, and the energy throughout the whole practice was absolutely brilliant.
