A step forward in Italy, finally! Congratulations to the Italian community!
Here are 2 interesting details of the successful vote, which prove that many more steps are still needed:
1) Words from Nunzio Galantino, Secretary-General of the Italian Episcopal Conference: “The government probably has its reasons. But the vote… represents a defeat for all”.
2) A provision that would have granted non biological parents in same s*x unions some parental rights, including adoption, was deleted and a requirement that couples be faithful to each other – which critics believed made it too similar to traditional marriage – was also struck from the legislation.
