🎉 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐮𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐅𝐚𝐛𝐢𝐚𝐧 𝐒𝐜𝐡𝐮𝐥𝐳 𝐨𝐧 𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐧𝐞𝐰 𝐈𝐤𝐞𝐫𝐛𝐚𝐬𝐪𝐮𝐞 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐡 𝐅𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐨𝐰 𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐭

NanoGUNE researcher 𝐅𝐚𝐛𝐢𝐚𝐧 𝐒𝐜𝐡𝐮𝐥𝐳 has been awarded an 𝐈𝐤𝐞𝐫𝐛𝐚𝐬𝐪𝐮𝐞 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐡 𝐅𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐨𝐰 𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐭 to carry out the project 𝐎𝐒𝐒𝐏𝐎𝐈𝐍𝐓 – 𝐎𝐩𝐞𝐧-𝐬𝐡𝐞𝐥𝐥 𝐧𝐚𝐧𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐩𝐡𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐬 𝐚𝐬 𝐩𝐨𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐬𝐩𝐢𝐧-𝐨𝐩𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐟𝐚𝐜𝐞𝐬.

Future quantum architectures and networks will require reliable ways to transmit quantum information coherently and with high fidelity.

One promising approach relies on 𝐬𝐩𝐢𝐧-𝐨𝐩𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐟𝐚𝐜𝐞𝐬, which enable the generation of entangled spin-photon pairs. However, explored candidates still face important challenges in terms of coherence times, miniaturization, and integration into large-scale quantum networks.

Through OSSPOINT, Schulz will explore 𝐨𝐩𝐞𝐧-𝐬𝐡𝐞𝐥𝐥 𝐧𝐚𝐧𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐩𝐡𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐬 as a new platform for spin-optical interfaces. These graphene-based molecular systems host unpaired electrons whose magnetic properties can be finely tuned, while benefiting from the exceptionally long coherence times associated with graphene.
Using state-of-the-art scanning probe microscopy combined with light-in/light-out spectroscopy, the project will investigate how the luminescence properties of open-shell nanographenes are linked to their spin structure at the atomic scale. This knowledge will be crucial for assessing their potential as building blocks for future quantum communication and quantum networking technologies.

Topaketetan, IKUR-Quantum Technologies eta IKUR-HPC&AI proiektuetako ikertzaileek orain arte lortutako aurrerapenak partekatu dituzte, eta bi ekimenen arteko lankidetza sendotzeko aukera izan dute.

Jardunaldietan parte hartu dute Eusko Jaurlaritzako Zientzia, Unibertsitate eta Berrikuntza Saileko ordezkariek ere: Adolfo Morais Zientzia eta Berrikuntzako sailburuordeak, Amaia Esquisabel Politika Zientifikoko zuzendariak eta Maialen Agirre Berrikuntzako zuzendariak.

Proiektuen jarraipena egiteaz gain, saioek agerian utzi dute lankidetza zientifikoaren, ikerketa-bikaintasunaren eta sinergiak sortzearen garrantzia Euskadirentzat estrategikoak diren arloetan, hala nola teknologia kuantikoetan, prestazio handiko konputazioan eta adimen artifizialean.

🤝 Ezagutza partekatzea, esperientziak trukatzea eta elkarlana sustatzea dira Euskadiko I+G+B ekosistema indartzeko giltzarriak.
