Have you ever wondered whether dyslexia could explain your difficulties with learning?
Perhaps you, or your child, have always found reading, spelling, writing or remembering written information more difficult than expected.
You may recognise some of the following:
• learning took more effort than it seemed to take others
• reading or spelling difficulties have continued despite support
• written work does not reflect knowledge or ability
• instructions, sequences or new information can be difficult to remember
• there is a family history of dyslexia or similar learning difficulties
• confidence has been affected by difficulties experienced at school
• you have developed ways of coping, but still feel that something has never been fully understood
A comprehensive dyslexia assessment can help identify an individual’s pattern of strengths and difficulties and establish whether their profile is consistent with dyslexia.
An assessment can provide:
• a clearer understanding of how the individual learns
• identification of strengths as well as areas of difficulty
• practical recommendations for school, university, work or everyday life
• appropriate guidance regarding support and reasonable adjustments
• reassurance and answers to questions that may have existed for many years
Assessments are available for children, young people and adults and are completed by an experienced APC-qualified dyslexia assessor.
Where a full diagnostic assessment is not yet appropriate, an assessment of literacy skills and underlying areas of difficulty may also help determine the most suitable next steps.
