Katy Kelly, a good friend of us at Active Language, is tremendous, she speaks so truthfully about working with younger learners. Don't miss this opportunity to see her in this Transformative Teachers webinar from Trinity College, London.

Trinity is the home of the CertTESOL and DipTESOL courses we run, check out www.activelanguage.net for more information or get in touch with us at [email protected]

Sign up for next week's Transformative Teachers webinar - 'Fostering Authentic Communication in the Young Learner Classroom' on Wednesday 15 April at 4pm (UK time)!

Presenter Katy Kelly explores the reasons why speaking in class can be a source of frustration for teachers and learners and how we can gain a better understanding of what our learners need and support authentic communication in young learner classes.

Yesterday Simon Pearlman had the honour and pleasure of leading a group of school owners and directors of studies in a session about teenage student retention at the fifth ACEIA DOS Forum at TECS. It was a fabulous day of talking, learning and sharing.

ACEIA is the Andalucian association of language schools, together we are stronger.

This is Coral. She is a teacher in Córdoba, Spain. She recently finished the Teaching Younger Learners course with us.

Would she recommend it? Yes, she would.
One of the things she explained was the difference between our course and other courses. She talked about how in other courses, the material is just given to you, you do some work and that's it. She talked about how the Active Language course guides you through the process on the platform, encourages interaction with other teachers on the course and this, combined with the live sessions, led by Simon Pearlman, provides so much space to learn, grow and develop as a teacher.

In written feedback she also said, "This course has provided me with the confidence to support a wide range of learner profiles, from the most disruptive to the most reserved, ensuring that every student has the opportunity to succeed in their language learning journey."

Thank you, Coral!

Chris Roland: la plenaria que encendió la chispa de la XIX Conferencia de ACEIA 2025 24/11/2025

Last weekend saw the annual trip up to Sevilla for the annual Asociación de Centros de Enseñanzas de Idiomas de Andalucía - ACEIA Conference., It did not disappoint!

It's always a great event, despite an early start, made a significantly easier by Gill at Tecs - the Educational Group organising a bus from Cádiz, and this year was no different.

Chris Roland gave one of the best opening plenaries ever, a flavour of which you can find here.

Simon Pearlman, one of our directors here led a session on how centering inclusivity is so important to directors of studies as part of our daily roles working with teachers and students. Huge thanks to Jordan James and Pablo Molina for running the DOS strand so wonderfully.

Thanks too to all the organisers and volunteers who make the conference so good.

Thanks ACEIA!

And now the end is near, there’s probably just a couple of weeks left of the academic year and we’re rushing around thinking about a million and one things, it’s a busy time. Can we listen to that little voice reminding us to focus on the teachers, on their summer and on their continuing teaching journeys? Now is the time to ease to the end of the year, to help teachers move forward, and perhaps this is the summer for them to finally get properly qualified and that will help them, your students and your school.
