----
“I want that!”
When a child shouts to ask for something, our first reaction might be to tell them to stop. But behind the shouting there is often a genuine need to be heard.
In Montessori, we try to separate the two: we listen to the need, but set a limit on the way it is expressed.
Instead of getting into a power struggle, we can calmly say: “I want to understand you, but I can’t when you’re shouting. When you’ve calmed down, I’ll listen to you.”
In this way, the child gradually learns that their needs matter and that they can express them in a way that allows others to listen to them.
🌱 It’s not about ignoring the shouting or giving in to it. It’s about acknowledging the emotion whilst, at the same time, teaching a more respectful and effective way of communicating.
Because learning to express what we need is also part of growing up.

When we imagine the future of the children who pass through our Primary School, we don’t just think in terms of grades or qualifications, but of people:
✅ Capable of thinking critically
✅ Of continuing to learn
✅ Of collaborating and caring for others
✅ Of taking the initiative to forge their own path
👉 Over the years, studies of former Montessori pupils have revealed a clear trend: whether they are highly academic, artistic or practical, these young people are independent, curious, engaged with their community and capable of working with others and adapting to new situations. And, above all, they have healthier self-esteem: they know themselves better, trust in their abilities and know that they can learn and make mistakes without losing their self-worth.
💫 If this is the future you want for your child, we still have a few places available at our Montessori Elementary school in Córdoba.

“¡No quiero comer!”
----
“I don’t want to eat!”
Mealtimes can easily become a source of tension when a child isn’t hungry or simply doesn’t want to eat. In Montessori, we try to ensure that the dining table doesn’t turn into a battlefield.
The adult prepares the meal, decides when and where to eat, and offers a variety of foods. But there is one thing that is up to the child: deciding whether they want to eat and how much they need.
Respecting their hunger and fullness cues helps them build a more mindful relationship with food, without turning every meal into a power struggle.
That said, respect doesn’t mean constantly offering alternatives or changing mealtimes just to get them to eat. Structure also provides reassurance: if they don’t want to eat now, there’ll be another chance at the next meal or snack.
🌱 Supporting them also means trusting them. We set the framework; they learn to listen to their own bodies.

At Montessori Elementary, making a mistake is no big deal – it’s simply part of the process.
Children learn that a mistake, an argument or a difficult day can be acknowledged, identified and dealt with: they are given the time, language and tools to start again with greater calm and awareness.
OECD reports on social and emotional skills, and publications such as the OECD Skills Outlook 2021, highlight that these skills (such as emotional regulation, perseverance, empathy and responsibility) can be just as important as purely cognitive skills for success and well-being in adult life.
UNESCO, in its materials on social and emotional learning (SEL), points out that learning to recognise and manage emotions, nurture relationships and make ethical decisions improves academic performance, employability and resilience in the face of difficult situations.
If you would like your child to develop these emotional skills alongside their academic ones during primary school, we still have a few places available at our Elementary Montessori in Córdoba.

----
“I want to go in now!”
When a child is eager to get into the pool, waiting can be quite a challenge. And at times like these, knowing what’s going to happen next can make all the difference.
At Montessori, we value clear and predictable routines. Explaining simply what we do first and what comes next helps children understand the order of things and prepare themselves for waiting.
It’s not about entering into a negotiation or repeating an endless explanation. We simply provide a clear guide: first we put on our sun cream, then we go into the water.
🌱 Anticipating is also about supporting. When children know what to expect, they can face the little waits of the day with greater confidence and independence.
Because often, behind a “Now!” there isn’t a lack of willpower: there’s a child who is still learning to wait.

At Montessori Elementary, questions such as ‘What could we do?’, ‘What would happen if…?’, and ‘How can we improve this?’ are a constant feature.
Children learn to explore various solutions, to spot errors in information, and to work with others to turn an idea on paper into reality.
The OECD, in its work on creative thinking and problem-solving skills, emphasises that creativity and critical thinking prepare students for increasingly innovative economies: they enable them to tackle complex problems, generate original ideas and improve on the ideas of others – something that cannot be achieved simply by repeating predefined answers.
UNESCO’s documents on 21st-century skills include creativity, problem-solving and ‘learning to learn’ as core skills for living and working in a changing world, alongside collaboration and critical thinking.
If you would like your child to develop this way of thinking and problem-solving during their primary school years, we still have a few places available at our Elementary Montessori in Córdoba.

Throwing sand may seem like a game, but it is also an opportunity to teach boundaries calmly and respectfully.
In Montessori, we understand that boundaries are a form of care: they protect the child, those around them and the environment.
Rather than lengthy explanations or reprimands, a brief, clear and consistent message helps the child understand which behaviour is unacceptable and which is acceptable.
When an adult acts calmly and consistently, the child feels secure. They know what to expect and can gradually develop self-control and respect for others.
🌱 Boundaries do not need to be harsh to be firm. Clarity, calmness and consistency are the tools that best support learning.

At Montessori Elementary, the aim is not simply for children to complete primary school, but for them to leave with the sense that they can continue to learn new things throughout their lives: that they know how to set themselves goals, organise themselves, seek out information, try things out, make mistakes and try again.
👉 The OECD, in reports such as The Triangle of Lifelong Learning (PISA 2022) and the OECD Learning Compass 2030 framework, emphasises that being prepared for the future involves much more than mastering subject matter: it requires knowing how to learn, maintaining the motivation to continue learning, and having confidence in one’s own ability to grow.
👉 International analyses of 21st-century skills also emphasise that this ‘learning to learn’ and the ability to take charge of one’s own learning are key to enabling people to adapt to constant technological and social changes.
If you would like your child to finish primary school with this foundation for lifelong learning, we still have a few places available at our Elementary Montessori in Córdoba.

Conflicts between siblings are a natural part of family life. We cannot always avoid them, but we can turn them into an opportunity to learn.
In Montessori, we understand that our role is not to decide who is right, but to support the children so that they can develop the tools they need to resolve their own conflicts.
Listening, waiting for their turn to speak, expressing how they feel and seeking solutions together are skills that are built through practice and by following the example set by adults.
When we stop resolving conflicts for them and start guiding them to resolve them for themselves, we are fostering empathy, communication and responsibility.
🌱 Every disagreement is an opportunity to learn to live together. Because educating for life also means teaching children to listen, engage in dialogue and find solutions with respect.

In our Montessori Elementary classrooms, children get used to learning with and from others: they organise themselves, share responsibilities, ask for help, offer help and discover that projects go further when different perspectives and skills are brought together.
👉 The OECD, in its work on student collaboration and collaborative problem-solving (PISA), emphasises that today’s interconnected societies need people capable of solving non-routine problems as a team: communicating, managing conflicts, organising the group and keeping the project on track.
👉 UNESCO initiatives on cross-curricular skills also point out that collaboration is a key skill for life and work, and that it can be integrated into classroom practice through projects, shared tasks and joint reflection. UNESCO.
