On June 15, 1919, Captain John Alcock and Lieutenant Arthur Brown achieved the first non-stop flight across the Atlantic Ocean ✈️🌊

They took off from Canada in a biplane on June 14, determined to make history and win a massive prize offered by the Daily Mail British newspaper 🏆📰

But their journey was full of technical problems and severe weather, finally crash-landing unharmed in Ireland the morning of June 15 🛬

Today, hopping on a plane to cross the ocean feels completely normal. But over a century ago, the very first non-stop transatlantic flight was practically a su***de mission.
