🗺️ Exploring Our Local Area!

Our Year 5 pupils have been developing their geography skills by exploring and understanding their local area using both digital and paper maps.

Through a range of practical activities, the children learnt how to identify key landmarks, interpret map symbols, use grid references and compare different types of maps. They also discovered how maps help us navigate and gather geographical information about the world around us.

This hands-on learning experience encouraged curiosity, critical thinking and a deeper appreciation of the community they are part of.

🌟 Design & Technology Showcase! 🌟

Over the last few weeks, the children have been exploring push and pull mechanisms in Design and Technology. Their challenge was to design and create their own working play parks—and what an amazing job they did! 🎉

From zip lines and swings to roundabouts, see-saws, and much more, the children demonstrated fantastic creativity, problem-solving skills, and determination as they brought their ideas to life.

The finished play parks showcase their imagination, effort, and enthusiasm throughout the project. Well done to everyone for creating such innovative and engaging designs! 👏✨

🎨🚋 Year 5 Explore Modern Art at the MACA Museum!

Our Year 5 pupils enjoyed a fantastic educational trip to the MACA Museum of Contemporary Art in Alicante, travelling by tram and making the most of the experience from start to finish!

During their visit, the children discovered the origins of modern art, learnt about influential contemporary Spanish artists, and explored how art has evolved over time.

Inspired by what they had seen, they took part in a creative workshop where they produced their own deconstructed portrait of Brigitte Bardot, experimenting with shape, colour and composition in the style of modern artists.

Travelling independently by tram also gave the children the opportunity to develop their confidence and experience sustainable public transport while enjoying a day of learning beyond the classroom.

A wonderful trip filled with creativity, culture and unforgettable experiences!
