🌈✨ Alan Turing: the genius who imagined the tech future… and to whom the world failed
Alan Turing (1912–1954) was the British mathematician who laid the foundations of modern computing and helped break the Enigma cipher, shortening World War II and saving millions of lives.
Despite his brilliance, he was persecuted for being gay, a criminal offense in the UK at the time. In 1952 he was convicted and forced to undergo hormone therapy.
Two years later, he was found dead from cyanide poisoning. The official ruling was su***de, but some historians and people close to him have raised doubts—suggesting the possibility of an accident, and leaving open questions that have never been fully resolved.
Today, Turing is a symbol of LGBTQ+ rights and a reminder of the long-overdue recognition owed to those who helped build the digital age.

Tennessee Williams smuggled gay desire into America's living rooms when it was still taboo to even mention it. His most famous play, 'A Streetcar Named Desire,' featured a character whose homosexuality led to his demise – something Williams couldn't explicitly show but made clear to those who understood the code.
In 'Cat on a Hot Tin Roof,' the entire plot revolves around Brick's unspoken love for his male friend Skipper – their relationship more passionate than any Brick shares with his wife.
Williams knew this pain firsthand as a gay man who watched his own lover leave him for marriage.
He once confessed: 'When I write, I don't censor my heart' – and that heart belonged to men, though he could only reveal this through his characters' burning frustrations and desperate longing.
