Today we honor Clara Campoamor (1888–1972), the woman who fought for women’s right to vote in Spain in 1931. 🇪🇸
A lawyer, writer, and politician, Campoamor dedicated her life to equality and justice. During the Spanish Second Republic, she passionately defended women’s suffrage in parliament despite strong opposition.
Thanks to her courage and determination, Spanish women were able to vote for the first time in 1933 — a historic moment that changed Spain forever and opened the door for generations of women to have a voice in society.
Clara Campoamor believed that democracy could not exist without equality, famously saying:
“La libertad se aprende ejerciéndola.”
“Freedom is learned by exercising it.”

Today Barcelona feels different. The streets are full of lights, cameras, and elegant people walking quickly. The city is celebrating the Goya Awards, the most important night of Spanish cinema.
While many people prepare for the gala, I walk calmly through the city after class. I like how Barcelona mixes everyday life with special moments. Sometimes an ordinary day can feel like a movie scene.
A few months ago everything was new for me — the language, the streets, the people. Little by little, I feel more confident and more at home.
The Goya Awards celebrate stories on screen, but they also remind me that everyone lives their own story. Moving to another country is also like that: learning, adapting, and discovering new parts of yourself.
Today I walk slowly, enjoying the moment. Maybe I don’t know how this story ends yet, but I know Barcelona is already part of it.

Today is Valentine’s Day. I am at home preparing a special evening. First I clean a little, then I play romantic music and decorate the table with candles and flowers. In Spain, many people celebrate this day with their partner or friends.
At night, I prepare a simple dinner and something sweet for dessert. I like this day because it is a good opportunity to say “I love you” and show affection to the important people in my life.
When I think about love, I don’t only think about a partner, but also my family, my friends, and taking care of myself. I want to spend more time with the people I love and enjoy the small moments.
I feel calm, happy, and grateful. Valentine’s Day is a good moment to share love and appreciate what we have.

Por la noche, preparo doce uvas para comer una con cada campanada del reloj. Me gusta mucho esta tradición porque es divertida y me hace sentir que empieza algo nuevo. Además, cuando escucho las campanadas, pienso en mis planes y en mis metas para el próximo año. Quiero aprender más español, viajar más y ver a mis amigos más seguido.
Me siento tranquila, contenta y un poco emocionada. El Año Nuevo es un buen momento para cambiar cosas, empezar hábitos nuevos y pensar en lo que quiero hacer.

Recently, we visited the iconic Palau de la Música Catalana to enjoy a wonderful opera performance — an experience full of art, music, and emotion. 🎭🫶
The Palau, built between 1905 and 1908, is one of Barcelona’s most stunning architectural gems and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Designed by the modernist architect Lluís Domènech i Montaner, it is famous for its breathtaking stained-glass skylight, colorful mosaics, and exceptional acoustics. 🎶

Camino a casa pensando: “Cada día entiendo un poco más de español.” Me siento contenta porque puedo hacer cosas sola. Poco a poco, hablar español es más fácil para mí.

Today I go to a café near my home. I walk in and notice the smell of fresh coffee. I order a latte and a toast with tomato for breakfast. I sit at a table by the window.
I wait a few minutes until my breakfast arrives. I enjoy the hot coffee and watch people coming in and out. I like this quiet moment in the morning. I finish, pay by card, and leave the café.
I walk home thinking: “Every day I understand a little more Spanish.” I feel happy because I can do things on my own. Little by little, speaking Spanish is easier for me.
