The Collective Sound is a summer music academy for musicians 12 - 18 yrs of age, students write, record, and perform original music.

ith a curriculum that includes musicology, songwriting, recording technology, video, photography, music industry guest lectures, band clinics, field trips, live performance and touring. We believe that it is important for our programs to utilize the current state of independent and popular music to connect with our students via culturally relevant artistic movements. Students not only grow in their musical proficiency, but they also develop their creative thinking, collaborative skills, and understanding of current technologies. The inherent character development carries through to many of life’s challenges facing youth. The ability to develop ideas, communicate them with others, and share them with the world is an invaluable practice.

Barcelona: June 30 - July 19
Southern California: July 14 - Aug 2

Students are placed into bands with other young musicians from around the world where they write original music, record, shoot a music video, and perform live shows. The program is coed with students staying in university housing with roommates and eating at on campus cafeteria and local restaurants. They record in a professional studio and shoot their music video with the help of our staff. They attend workshops and field trips on music industry, technology, and to shows/concerts. Students are ages 11-19 but generally the mean age is between 14-16 yrs old.
