ECOCIRCULAR: Project Concluded, Platform Launched! 🎓🌍

The ECOCIRCULAR project has concluded with the recently and highly productive meeting with our Expert Advisory Board.

The session was a resounding success, offering a valuable opportunity to review the project's final outcomes and gather crucial, high-level feedback from our distinguished panel of experts. This collaboration confirms the strong potential of the ECOCIRCULAR solutions to significantly contribute to the European Green Deal and accelerate the transition to a Circular Economy in our industry.

We extend our sincere thanks to the entire Expert Advisory Board for their commitment and their guidance.

With the project successfully concluded, we are proud to announce that our innovative platform is now fully available to empower teachers and students in building a more circular future.

Ready to dive in? The platform is packed with cutting-edge educational resources centered around four practical challenges, plus an engaging Digital Escape Room to test your circular economy skills in a fun and interactive way.

Last Monday, our project partners Universitat Oberta de Catalunya (UOC) Institut d’Estudis Financers and Innovade LI Ltd gathered at the IEF in Barcelona for our final transnational meeting.

It was a highly productive session, which allowed us to successfully finalize the last remaining project tasks and set a clear path for the closing phase.
A key focus of our meeting was to prepare for the upcoming presentation to our External Advisory Board. We're now almost ready to share our work with the world.
This successful meeting marks a significant milestone as we approach the end of a fruitful collaboration.
A big thank you to all the partners for their hard work and dedication!

It's the final countdown!

We hold today our last Steering Committee meeting for the project, marking a key milestone as we enter the final month. The team Universitat Oberta de Catalunya (UOC), Innovade LI Ltd and Institut d’Estudis Financers is hard at work wrapping up all deliverables and preparing to present the final results very soon.

We are so proud of the progress we've made and the impact this project will have. It has been a challenging but incredibly rewarding journey.

Stay tuned—we can't wait to share our final outcomes and all the lessons learned along the way!

🌱 Towards a Circular and Responsible Fashion Industry ♻️

The fashion sector is undergoing a major rethink. A growing number of stakeholders are advocating for circular, sustainable, and resilient production models.

But what does it really mean for fashion to become circular?

- Circular design: The focus is shifting toward garments designed to last, be repaired, resold, or recycled. Brands like Mud Jeans are leading the way with leasing models, free repair services, and products made from up to 40% recycled materials.
- Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR): New European regulations require brands to fund textile collection and recycling schemes—encouraging longevity starting from the design phase. Importantly, there’s also an effort to make this responsibility inclusive, involving social enterprises that already play a key role in managing used clothing.
- Emerging circular business models: Pre-loved fashion (second-hand), leasing, repair services, and upcycling are gaining traction. However, they still face barriers related to infrastructure, cost, and consumer perceptions.

Yet for this shift to be real and lasting, technology and regulation are not enough. We need to educate consumersto make informed choices—prioritizing durability and sustainability over fast fashion.

💡 At the project EcoCircularAI we explore key challenges to raise awareness of the need for a circular economy. One of our educational modules focuses specifically on fashion, offering practical tools, case studies, and insights—such as the real environmental footprint of the most-worn item: jeans.

🎯 Circular fashion is not just a passing trend—it’s a social, environmental, economic, and educational necessity.

Eco Circular AI is a free AI tool to promote knowledge of the circular economy in Financial and Administration courses in C- VET and I-VET students.

Today we held our monthly meeting, where we shared the results of the pilot test carried out by the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya (UOC) . Innovade LI Ltd will work with the results obtain to improve the AItool. We have also reflected on the Multiplier Event, organised by the Institut d’Estudis Financers during the final closing event held in Girona.

A valuable session to assess progress and continue moving forward together towards the objectives of the project.

LASTED NEWS!

Institut d’Estudis Financers held the final multiplier event of the European project in Girona, as part of the closing ceremony of the EFEC (Educació Financera i Emprenedora de Catalunya) program, which promotes financial literacy across Catalonia.

During the event, the main outcomes of the project were presented, showcasing efforts to advance a circular economy supported by artificial intelligence. The event brought together vocational education and training (VET) centers in finance, economics students, international partners, and volunteers, fostering a valuable exchange of ideas and best practices.

Participants also included teachers from Rahe Business School in Finland and a PhD in economics from SGGW in Poland, who took part in a mobility visit to explore the Catalan VET system and discuss sustainable education approaches.

In parallel, the project team released the latest newsletter, summarizing key activities, pilot results, and the next steps in scaling up the initiative.

We’re thrilled to share that we have successfully completed the pilot test phase of our EcoCircular AI project focused on promoting sustainable economic practices through innovation, education, and collaboration.

Today, we’ve had the opportunity to test our materials, tools, and methodologies with real users — gathering incredibly valuable feedback that will help us fine-tune our approach and maximize impact. From a digital escape room to digital learning modules, every element was designed to empower individuals and organizations to think and act more sustainably.

This pilot has been a vital step in validating our work, and the feedback is very valuable.

A big thank you to our participants who made this possible and thanks Institut d’Estudis Financers for the organization. We’re now one step closer to creating long-term change.

Today, May 6, we gathered at our quarterly online meeting of EcoCircularAI partners to update and follow up on the project's progress and next steps.

👉 Today we addressed :

Universitat Oberta de Catalunya (UOC) as project coordinator has focused its presentation on the status of the project, the Interim Report, the updates of the External Advisory Board, the ongoing translations into several languages and the first drafts of the User's Guide.

Innovade LI Ltd shared interesting updates on the development of our circular economy tool, focusing on improvements AND integration.

Institut d’Estudis Financers presented what the pilot is going to look like and when it will take place.
