AI is reshaping architecture. But are we asking the right questions? 🤖

On 26 May at 19:00, IAAC Barcelona welcomes Shajay Bhooshan – Associate Director at Zaha Hadid Architects and co-founder of ZHACODE – for the next session of the IAAC Lecture Series 2025/26.

His argument: AI must not detach architecture from its lineage – it must extend it. Geometry, tectonic intelligence, material precision. The foundations remain. The tools evolve.

One of our own, shortlisted for the EUmies Awards 🏛️

Dinko Peračić, IAAC alumni, has been named finalist for the EUmies Awards 2026 with Gruž Market in Dubrovnik – a project that restores a renaissance palace, reorganises a public market and covers it with a roof that almost disappears. Nine rotating steel beams wrapped in translucent textile. Filters light. Regulates airflow. Glows at night.

This is what advanced architecture looks like in the real world.

Congratulations, Dinko. 👏

The forest canopy is the eighth continent. And we’ve barely explored it. 🌿

A forest canopy ecologist, explorer and founder of Mission Green, Lowman has spent four decades pioneering canopy science across 46 countries and all seven continents.

Her bold initiative?

“I learned how to think with my hands.” 🙌

That’s how Heba, from Egypt, describes her time at IAAC. And for her, it changed everything.

At the Master in Advanced Architecture, you don’t just design – you build. And behind every project, the whole school shows up. Fabrication team, students from every batch, everyone contributes in one way or another. Heba calls it community. We’d say she’s right. ✨

The future she’s prototyping? One built on circularity. IAAC reframed the idea of waste for her. Now she sees potential in everything. ♻️

✨IAAC at Mobile World Congress Barcelona 2026

This year, IAAC contributed to the design and the development of the pavilion and presented two installations at the intersection of architecture, robotics and digital fabrication.

Digital Cloud materialised the invisible infrastructures of our connected world into a timber lattice structure – visitors could physically inhabit.

Crafting the Future, developed with Ceràmica Cumella, captured human gesture and translated it into robotic motion, proving how technology can expand craft traditions rather than erase them.

Architecture as a medium for the technologies shaping our cities.
