EASY KNOTT | Step by step
In this reel, we show our fellows how to perform the Easy Knott, a simple and reproducible arthroscopic knot commonly used in shoulder surgery.
🔹 1. Preparation
Once the suture limbs are positioned, maintain appropriate tension and ensure good visualization of the suture.
🔹 2. Creating the first sliding loop
Pass the working limb around the post, creating the first loop of the knot. Repeat this loop two times, once passing over the post, and the second time under the post
🔹 3. Advancing the knot
Maintain control of the post, and advance the knot toward the tissue, by tractioning the post limb
🔹 4. Locking
Once the knot is correctly positioned, perform the locking knot, and advance it to the tissues. Once there, push the limb with the knottpusher to lock the knot.
🔹 5. Final knot
Do one final loop, and advance it to the tissue. Lock it in the same way as the previous step.
Check that the knot is properly seated against the tissue and that the fixation is secure before cutting the suture limbs.
👉 The key is to maintain constant control of the suture limbs, follow the correct sequence, and avoid losing tension while advancing the knot.
A good arthroscopic knot is not only about knowing the sequence — reproducibility comes with practice and repetition until the movements become automatic.
