The history of Ars Picta as a research group starts in 1996 under the direction of Dr. Milagros Guardia. In 2005 obtained the recognition as a research group by the Generalitat of Catalonia. Ars Picta belongs to the Institute for Research in Medieval Culture (IRCVM) based at the University of Barcelona. The National Széchényi Library (Budapest) in cooperation with the Department of the History of Arts at the Pázmány Péter Catholic University (Piliscsaba) organizes an international, interdisciplinary conference under the title: "Facing and Forming the Tradition. Illustrated Texts on the Way from Late Antiquity until the Romanesque Times". March 18th - 20th, 2014.
