Dancing in the battle:
Strategies of the self-enjoyment in the battle context through my experience!
when you enter in the battle:
- first thing why are you there - you enjoy yourself dancing! You are already queen / king for yourself 🤍 just live it on the stage!
- connect to the music through your listening and body! Not as someone else will be expecting you to hear it and show it!
You have your personal listening and feeling of it - connect to it! How do u in your individual way connect and build relationships with a music.
- to be someone else in your dancing - it’s a failed strategy ( though it can work for the judges )
In the end it will not work for you - because you will be hiding your real Self - Yourself! You always can choose
What you would love to represent on that stage!
Dancing is a connection to ourselves , it’s a most divine place for our creative child!
In the battle context it will be challenged by a lot of “games” and “rules” of the competition.
Because in the end the battle is a competition.
Within our practices we work a lot with an improvisational self-expression through the rhythmical and footwork conversations.
“The most common form of improvisation is ordinary speech.
As we talk and listen, we are drawing on a set of building blocks (vocabulary) and rules for combining them (grammar). These have been given to us by our cul-ture.
But the sentences we make with them may never have been said before and may never be said again.
Every conversation is a form of jazz!”
