✏️ Anti-Gender Politics and Feminist Resistances in the Middle East and North Africa
In the MENA region, state and non-state actors are increasingly targeting non-normative forms of gender expression and sexual variance within legislation, policy, and media discourse. Led by Susana Galán (IBEI), this course situates these processes within specific colonial histories, state formation, religious divides, and gender regimes.
The module provides an academic analysis of these trends, connecting them to the broader global literature on anti-gender politics. Furthermore, the sessions will examine regional and transnational feminist and q***r resistances, as well as the networks of solidarity emerging against these challenges.
