🎤 A massive thank you to St. George, Barcelona — first for inviting me to speak at their inspiring Neurodiversity Assembly, and then for welcoming me back to lead staff training on dyslexia.

💬 The assembly was such a privilege to be part of! The guest panel was full of warmth and honesty, and the children asked incredibly thoughtful questions that really showed what an inclusive and aware school they attend!

👥 The staff training that followed was just as energising — such a committed, knowledgeable team who clearly care deeply about helping every pupil thrive. It was a real joy to work with them!

🌟 I absolutely loved both experiences and I’m really looking forward to continuing to collaborate with St. George in the future.

📚 We had so much fun using Big Books in our early years and KS1 reading sessions this week! 🦁🐵🦒

👀 There’s just something about a giant book that draws children right in—whether they’re native speakers or learning English as an additional language. The big, bold pictures and large text help everyone stay focused and excited about the story.

✏️ We also love switching up the fonts we use, especially ones that are easier for pupils with issues like dyslexia to read. A small change in how the words look can make a big difference in how confident a child feels when reading.

🎭 And of course, no story time is complete without puppets! Bringing the characters to life adds a bit of magic and helps children connect with the story in a really hands-on way.

✨ It’s all about making reading feel fun, friendly and full of possibilities!

🎮✨ Mythical creatures, Minecraft magic, and marvellous storytelling!

💻 This week, our KS2 pupils didn’t just write stories—they built them! Instead of starting with a blank page, we took a different approach: first, they had to invent a mythical creature, but rather than drawing it, they brought it to life using technology.

💡 Using an online Minecraft-style editor, pupils carefully designed every detail of their creature—colours, features, powers, and special abilities. This process naturally sparked ideas for backstories:
🐉 Where did their creature come from?
⚡ What powers did it have?
🗺️ What kind of adventure would it go on?

📖 By crafting the character first, the story unfolded effortlessly. Instead of struggling to begin, pupils were excited to dive into their narratives, exploring worlds and conflicts that emerged naturally from their creations.

✍️ Great storytelling isn’t just about writing—it’s about immersing yourself in the world you’re creating. And with a bit of creativity (and some digital tools), our young writers proved that imagination has no limits!

🍂 Turning Maths into an Outdoor Adventure! 🍂

🌳 This week we took our times tables learning to the great outdoors by collecting conkers! Pupils had a blast counting out groups of conkers to crack multiplication problems, making Maths feel like a real-life treasure hunt.

➗ Using the conkers to physically group numbers, they could see the Maths unfold in front of them, helping them confidently write out number sentences and tackle times tables and division facts with ease. It’s incredible how adding a bit of nature turns learning into an exciting, hands-on experience!

✍️ It’s incredible to see how pupils progress in their English skills over time! From Reception, where they begin by copying and labelling simple body parts to practise their letter formation, to Years 1 and 2, where phonics come into play as they begin to sound out and spell the words independently.

✍️ Later, as they move through the years, pupils become more confident, adding adjectives to describe each part with precision! Each stage builds essential skills in writing, spelling, and confidence in language. So proud of all the progress my pupils are making! 😊

📏 Today we dove into the exciting world of measurement! Armed with rulers and measuring tapes, we embarked on a thrilling adventure, exploring the fascinating realms of centimetres and millimetres.

🔍 We had an absolute blast searching high and low for different shapes, using our newfound measuring skills to uncover the mysteries of length and width. It was a joy to see their faces light up with excitement as they discovered the magic of measurement!

💡 By incorporating hands-on activities like these, we’re not just teaching maths; we’re nurturing a love for learning and empowering our young minds to explore and discover. After all, the journey of learning should be as fun as it is educational!

🎉 Today, we played a fun twist on Bingo in our lower-KS2 Maths session!

🏃‍♀️ Instead of just marking off numbers, we gained points if we had the number on our cards but lost points if we didn’t. It turned into a thrilling race to the top of the leaderboard, with everyone eagerly adding and subtracting to keep their scores high. The competitive buzz was incredible, and the pupils were so absorbed in the game they didn’t even realise they were honing their mathematical skills!

🧮 Games like these not only reinforce important numeracy skills but also keep the learning experience lively and enjoyable. Much more engaging than any old boring worksheet!

📚 Exploring the magic of phonics with a goat 🐐 in a boat 🚤 and a toad 🐸 in the road 🛣️!

🔤 Phonics is one of the strongest foundations of reading, teaching learners to decode words by understanding the sounds they represent.

📖 Phonics can be used in conjunction with many other methods to foster a love of reading in your child. It gives them enough of a boost to start reading for themselves without having to recognise or learn whole words by heart.

🪄 Today I had a magical blast with my 11+ group, testing their logical reasoning skills with this Harry Potter challenge!

🤔 It may look easy at first, but look more closely…Are all the pictures exactly the same? Do you have more than one of an object together?

🧠 Puzzles like these are the perfect way to talk about concepts such as algebra and BIDMAS with younger pupils, as well as getting them to really think through a problem.
