While we’re still debating whether kids should be using AI, in China they’re already learning about it from first grade.
Since 2025, Chinese schools have been introducing children to AI from as young as six. But they’re not just teaching them how to use tools like ChatGPT. Kids first learn what AI actually is, how these systems work, and why they don’t always get things right.
Younger students also aren’t allowed to simply let AI do their schoolwork for them. The idea is pretty straightforward: technology should help children learn, not think for them. And that might be the most important part of the story.
It’s not really about China being the first to bring AI into the classroom. It’s about preparing kids for a world where AI will be just another tool they use every day.
At KIBERone, we also work with children from the age of six. We believe that the earlier kids start understanding the technology around them, the easier it will be for them to navigate a world that’s changing incredibly fast.
Ten or fifteen years from now, today’s first graders will be starting their careers. By then, using AI at work will probably feel completely normal.
So the real question isn’t whether they’ll have to deal with AI. They will. The question is whether they’ll know how to use it well.
