Today, April 28th April 2026 at 11am, the schools’ lottery took place.

The tiebreak number is:

42,129

This only concerns you if there are more applications than places available in the school you named as your favourite school and you and many others have the same number of priority points.

You can find your lottery number in your application portal (which you can access via the links sent to you by the education department). It is written under ‘Número de Desempat’.

This number indicates how good a chance you have against those applicants with the same number of priority points. You’ll need to look at the lists published by the schools to see what the other applicants got - usually these are available on their website.

Today the initial lists are out.

What does this mean to applicants?

It means that you can find out:

👉🏽 How many other applicants there were for the school you put as your first option
👉🏽 How many priority points these other applicants were assigned
👉🏽 How many priority points your application was assigned

What you CAN’T find out:

👉🏽 Which of these applicants are applying for NESE spots (spaces set aside for children with special educational needs)
👉🏽 Whether you are guaranteed a space or not

So, what do you need to do now?

👉🏽 Check that your application has been assigned the correct number of priority points. If there is a mistake, you have until 20th April to appeal the points you have been given.
👉🏽 Look at how many applicants there were and how their priority points compare to yours. This might be a cause for joy or concern 😅

⚠️Please note these are the preliminary lists and things could change since there may be mistakes!

If you missed out on the public school and concertada deadline for a September 2026 start, all is not lost.
You can make a 'late application' until the 21st of April.

If, however, you can't make that deadline, it is still possible to get a place for your child at a school in Barcelona!

Welcome to the Barcelona School Directory 🤩.

6th - 18th March 2026 - application period for those entering ESO (Escola Secundaria Obligatoria) at a public school or concertada or those wishing to change schools.

Applications are done online and the link to access the application form can be found on the education department’s website.

Like with applications for the earlier grades, the deadline is 23:59 on Wednesday 18th of March.
It’s important to not miss this deadline!

If you cannot make an application during this period but need a school place for your child for September, all is not lost, though 🤗. It is still possible to apply for a place outside of the application period.

4th - 18th March 2026 - application period for public schools and concertadas.
This is the period to submit your application for a space in a primary school if your child is between 3 -12 years old.

Applications are usually done online and the link to access the application form can be found on the education department’s website.

The deadline is 23:59 on Wednesday the 18th of March.
It’s important to not miss this deadline!

Important to know - you can apply any time up until that time and date. There is no benefit to applying earlier, apart from having the relief that it has been done correctly 😅.

If you cannot make an application during this period but need a school place for your child for September, all is not lost, though 🤗. It is still possible to apply for a place outside of the application period.
