Each day this wooden mannequin is in a different position.

One child places it, another changes it, another improves it.
It evolves. And this is not distraction.
This is part of how children learn.

As they clean and organize the classroom, this naturally happens…
they share ideas, try things out, and build on each other’s thinking.
They are giving shape to what they imagine, and making it visible.

In a Montessori environment, independence also means thinking for yourself
and having your ideas taken seriously. When that happens, children participate more, contribute more,
and feel part of what they are building together. That’s how a real classroom community grows…
by allowing each child to be themselves and bring their own part into it. And in doing so, their creativity stays alive.

Happy Diada!🌹

Sant Jordi is a very special and popular celebration in Catalonia.

The children in Primary have enjoyed taking part in a variety of arts and crafts activities, such as making bookmarks and origami roses.

They also participated in a book swap. All the children who took part brought a book from home that they no longer use, giving it a second life by passing it on to another child to enjoy. The books shared helped promote the three key languages in our school: English, Spanish, and Catalan.

This initiative also supported the 3Rs (reduce, reuse, and recycle) encouraging students to care for and protect our planet. Everyone has also become aware of the importance of saving already reused paper so it can be used again in the future.

In addition, our Upper Primary students had the opportunity to read to younger children in Pomaret, inspiring and motivating them to develop a love for reading.

Last weekend, some of our guides at BMS attended the VI International Seminar on Neuroscience and Education organized by MIRTC at Palau Girona, a meeting space where internationally recognized professionals shared their research on child and adolescent development.

It was an enriching experience that encouraged us to continue learning and growing in our educational practice.

During the seminar, we learned from experts such as David Bueno, Francesco Tonucci, Solange Denervaud, Mary Helen Immordino-Yang, Marta Portero, Baiba Krumins Grazzini, Adele Diamond, and Gustavo Deco, who offered valuable insights from neuroscience, education, and holistic development.

We left with inspiration, knowledge, and renewed motivation to continue supporting our students.

We are grateful to the organizers for making this seminar possible and highly recommend exploring the work of these professionals.

If you've ever thought, "someone should do something about
teenagers" — that someone might be you.

Adolescence is one of the most powerful windows in human development — and one of the least
understood in education.

This August, join us in Barcelona for the Montessori Adolescent Guide Training (12–18). Aug 2–12, we only have a few places left!

You'll work inside a real Montessori school, alongside colleagues from around the world, guided by facilitators who've dedicated their careers to this age group.

AMS-affiliated.
Delivered with CMStep.
Practically useful from day one.

In music class, children are not just playing instruments, they’re learning to listen, observe, and respond.

As the teacher gives signals, they adjust: faster, slower, louder, quieter… sometimes together, sometimes on their own.

Through this, they are developing:
• attention and the ability to follow cues
• coordination and control of movement
• self-regulation

All through rhythm, movement, and shared experience.

Today, on International Women’s Day, we honour Maria Montessori, one of the first women to graduate in medicine in Italy. She worked tirelessly to change how children learn, believing that every child deserves freedom, respect, and the chance to grow independently.

Montessori broke barriers in science and education, showing that women could lead meaningful change in society; even at a time when their voices were often ignored.

We are proud to honor her legacy and continue her vision of empowering children to explore, learn, and thrive.💜
