- New publication from GRAL! Finger-Bou and Muñoz (2026) explore how children perceive gender roles in the animated series Charlie and Lola.
- Combining a content analysis of 11 episodes with group interviews (3rd graders and 5th/6th graders), the study finds a mix of traditional and progressive gender portrayals — and shows that older children are noticeably more aware of gender equality than younger ones.
- Encouragingly, kids were more likely to challenge gender stereotypes than reinforce them.
